Yup. 2 tenths on day 2.

I'll keep this brief as we're still on the way home, but I want to once again tip my hat to every one of the MMSC and ARMS organizers and volunteers who pulled together an incredible CAC2014 event this weekend. Our Ontario contingent had an amazing time on and off the course, which is how the event should be. I have a lot more to say later once I get home, but for now thank you again for a weekend that won't soon be forgotten.

Well, it did take me a few runs to learn the car

And for the record, Brian spanked me hard on Saturday (over a second faster than me). So, the trophy went into the right hands. I still can't believe I managed to get into the top ten overall; that was far beyond anything I expected. At best, I was hoping that I didn't embarass myself. Brian, you have to come out west and see how you do against me in an S2000.

Many thanks to MMSC and their Sponsors for a great weekend. The new paddock configuration worked like a charm, and the weekend went without a hitch. This type of event takes a great amount of effort, and was a great success! Maybe you should make on-line registration mandatory for future Slemon events!

Our little Ontario contingent finally rolled back into town around 11 last night after some absolutely brutal traffic on the 401 yesterday. But now that I'm in front of a keyboard and have some time to compose some rational thoughts I'd like to voice a few thank-yous and shout-outs for the event:


First of all to Ming, Dave, Ray, Shawn, Dave and the rest of the voices and faces of MMSC for the weekend, once again a huge kudos to all of you for a job well done. It was pretty evident that you all had a LOT going on to manage and you did it with the composure and skill that comes from great teamwork and years of experience. Every one of you at some point made time to talk with folks like us from out of town and make us feel welcomed to your event. That is no easy task when you had so much to do, but you did it and left us all wanting to come back and experience it again.

To all the volunteers whose names and faces may not have been seen or heard, a heartfelt thank-you to you as well. We know someone was out there chalking the cones and course, printing up the grid lists, arranging the dinners, charging the radios, filling the coolers, manning the registration desk, posting the results and about a million other tasks. Without you the event would not have been what it was, so again I say THANK YOU.

To all of the folks we met, including but not limited to Kelvin (aka Frankie's twin), Joel (aka Mr. Kokanee), Evan (aka My Hybrid brother), Brian, Luc, Mike, Luke, Murray, Matthew, Brian, Richard, it was wonderful meeting and chatting with all of you throughout the weekend. I hope this isn't the last time we get to enjoy a weekend of competition and fun with all of you.

And we all know that it's a great idea to support the people who support our sport, so thanks to Toyo, DME, and all of the other event sponsors for a wonderful job supporting the event!

We had a wonderful time this weekend and it would really be great if all of our regions could see more of each other throughout the years. If anyone would like more information on the events that run in Ontario please feel free to sign up over on our forum at http://www.casc.on.ca/forums and by all means keep in touch if you're ever in Ontario and looking for some cones to kill.

And on a final note, there's already rumors floating about of the 2016 National event being held just outside of Montreal. If it comes together you can bet on a strong Ontario contingent showing up and we'd hope that the East Coast would have a great showing too. For those of you who met the Quebec folk this weekend, I'm sure you can imagine what kind of show they'd put on. Keep an eye out for more details.....

Glade you all made it home safe. Was great meeting everyone. Talking to Carl W Sunday, he was hoping the 2016 event would be in Quebec. We plan to make the run up. Last time nats were here in 2008 it was my first full year and didn't get a chance to meet some people. So i was really happy to get a chance to talk to everyone. I know i missed a lot of you, but i did my best. Carl and Bruno, Thanks for putting a Honda top 3. Thanks to MMSC and everyone who put the event on, Toyo and DME. I am pretty happy with the Free tires. 2 out of the 3 national events I have run, I brought home Free R-comps from Toyo. Thanks you very much.

Now who has a set of 13X7.5 or 8 rims kicking around for these new tires..

Thanks to everyone involved in putting this event together and keeping it running smooth. Lots of competitors, great weather (even though I think many of us were doing our rain dances). For my first national event I certainly had a good time. As far as Montreal, I would jump at the chance to run an event there. Big thanks to Mitchell, Brian and Colin for helping to get the car prepared the week before, and Joel for providing a shady parking spot for the weekend. Looking forward to the next one.

The phenomenon mentioned by Stacey C. could be quite extreme. Here's a portion of one of my photos from the Test & Tune. The actual photo is a reject as the lens is focused behind the car. Still, it's worth seeing the brake sparks!

I learned a tough lesson on cleanliness this weekend. Had trouble getting a clean run on day 2 so I sandbagged my last run just to ensure no cones and dropped 17 positions compared to day 1

Also, congrats to Dan on paxing 42nd in the contour. Pretty good finish for the snake.

It was a great weekend. Hot, not too hot. Met tons of nice people (hybridz 4 lyfe Ryan).

Could not get rear traction either day, so spent the time blowing off the inside rear tire. Doesn't seem to have hurt it though 63rd in PAX, 64th in raw. Sounds about right, I guess.

That's what happens to a rotor surface when a abrasive pad is applied to it under heavy load...just like a grinder against a piece of metal. Those sparks are the cost of going fast....

Congrats to "fast mike" on his incredibly fast runs and the 2014 Championship! It was very refreshing to see what properly prepped cars can do.
