Hi guys.
This may be a stupid question but I seem to remember passengers being allowed at these events, is this true? I may just be confusing them with the events run in Ontario I have attended. I saw the rules saying they are allowed on non-compition runs, any chance there will be any of these? I am trying to convince someone to do autocross and hoping a ride will help.

Passengers are not allowed during competition runs, only during fun runs at the end of the day if time and volunteers permit.

It was pretty orange. Not the leaves on the trees either! I normally barely hit any pylons, today I had at least 2 in each run, and up to 4. And while working I called in 6 pylons three different times. Lol. It was a workout! Thanks you bunch, 2 Fords and a VW.

I had a ball running Leon for the first time this year. Even with 13 pylons all day.

I was worried that it was going to be really cold, since there was ice on my windshield at 530am when I got off work.

Great event over all. Big thanks to timing and scoring for having to decipher all of those cone penalty calls. I'm sure there are those that wish to "thank" Ben and Scott for their course design on the back straight as well. Funny how they had the top 2 times!

Sorry, I have to say this:
To anyone I Beat today, on 3 hours sleep, in two thirds of a car, that's yellow, with 64 HP and 155/60/13 street tires...be ashamed. Be very ashamed

In all seriousness I do pity those on the back straight. I liked how fast the course was, but just couldn't wrap my head around the dramatic speed changes from high third gear down to low second and back by the next feature.

To put it more in perspective for those who weren't there, I PAXed 10th of 52 with FOUR cones on my best run!

I had a great day, it was a good track setup. It was completely different from the regular AMP slalom. Great job everyone who setup and did timing.

The great thing is that nearly everybody's best run had cones. I worked station #8 for the second run group, it was unreal the amount of resetting. Definitely kept it interesting.
I have to work next Monday (the joys of working for the French) so this was my last event for 2015. Thanks to everyone involved with organizing and devoting their time to make this season happen. It was amazing fun. Ditching the Legacy 16 hours before the St. John event for a FRS was a great decision. Learned a whole lot about car control and made great progress this season.

Ditto to what everybody else said. Huge thanks to those running after cones on the back straight, and especially to those in the tower who had to keep up with the 3 cars on course simultaneously plowing over cones.

I didn't get a good look at the results afterwards, but they sounded really close considering how things panned out. I wonder how many people could have pax'd first today if they didn't hit 'that one cone'!

So...

Sorry about the back straight . We wanted to do something different there (it's usually nothing but slaloms and gates) and it just left zero room for error on braking and lines. AMP is a tricky place to build courses because it doesn't take long to really get the speed up and we only have so many cones. Next time we'll try to keep it different but use less elements.



My raws were 111, 112, 110, 110. Clean runs were definitely the key today.

Here's my 3rd run. Was less than a tenth off my best run despite hitting 2 cones.



Apparently I punted a cone into the woods in turn 3 on my last run, wish I had a rear facing camera for that.

Scott, I thought the elements on the back straight in between the slaloms were interesting, just tough to get the right approach for the first (thinking 2 cone slalom helped me on my 4th run for the first element) and evidently a bit too tight. :)

I hadn't noticed hitting any but figured I had to have at some point.
Probably means I wasn't pushing it thought the narrow parts as much as I could have. Haha.
It was alot of fun, I liked the back straight, but it was a bit tight.

What a nice day it turned out to be. I enjoyed the course design despite how tight it was. It made it that much more interesting navigating through everything. Congrats to Ben. A 113, and clean! That is mindbogglingly impressive haha. Thank you to all the organizers for another great event.

I can't believe that 90hp diesel jetta with $500 koilhaus coilovers, no swaybars and manual steering on a power rack made it around in 127.003. Impressive, it's not an easy car to drive. I drove it at the T&T at Slemon and launched out of the seat driving the e-brake handle up my ....

I can't get over the sound of the Beat. It's my new favorite car sound.

finally got my fastest raw time run uploaded. 14.9 + 4 cones, the two at the narrow sections between turns 3 and 4 were stupid. just got frustrated by hitting the one at turn 3 and lost concentration. oh well...

It would seem I had my thoughts on this one all typed out and then didn't hit send! but better late than never I guess!
I have to admit, this event had me nervous in the beginning which completely threw my focus/concentration. I'm still not sure if the fact that I finally got to ride shotgun in my own car at lapping the day before (instead of just hearing tell of the AMP track experiences) made things better or worse. BUT! By the end, I wasn't ready to stop, and I'm sure many others weren't either.
I personally loved the course layout. It was a challenge, and after all isn't that what we're all here for? to prove we are good drivers? I think I can fairly say every single person was thrown off by some aspect of this course, and I think that was the beauty of it. Staying calm and focused was more important than ever.
Throughout the year, I have heard lots of advice and learned a lot about my driving habits and my car's capabilities, and I really enjoyed getting to put it all together at this event. Honestly, just laying down a time with 9 cones and then matching that time in a clean run felt like an accomplishment!
