Hi everyone, It’s the moment you have been waiting for HPDS 2023!

Due to over whelming response to the HPDS we have very quickly filled the available spots, any new submissions will be put on the waitlist and will be contacted to fill any spots that become available due to unforeseen circumstances. Keep in mind this may be on short notice. People who are on the waitlist will be contacted first for any future school opportunities. If you are interested in attending a school feel free to send an email with the required information. This will help us gauge interest and provide more school opportunities in the future.

Before I get to the HPDS details, there are a few things to cover:

First: Lunch will be provided and is included with your registration fee. We will have lots of water available on site.
Second: Full payment for the school will be due by May 17th. If you don’t pay by this date, the next person on the waiting list will be contacted.
Third: Previously approved HPDS registrants who were unable to attend have priority for registration in 2022 and were already contacted.

The ASCC High Performance Driving School for 2023 will be held during the long weekend on Sunday May 21st and Monday May 22nd, 2023. This session is open to anyone who wants to learn some of the more advanced techniques and track safety to qualify for a Lapping card or Time Attack license for the 2022 season. A lapping license is required to attend any ARMS lapping events, and a Time Attack License is required for the 2023 ARMS time attack events.

1. ABOUT THE SCHOOL

The High Performance Driving School will take place starting with an evening classroom session on Sunday May 21st followed by an all-day track session at Atlantic Motorsport Park on Monday May 22nd. This course consists of a classroom session instructing students on the theory and physics of high performance driving as well as track safety. The following day consists entirely of on-track activities with small groups of students paired to experienced instructors.

We have approximately 30 spots available subject to instructor availability. If we have to reduce student numbers due to instructor availability, affected people will be informed asap and receive a full refund.

2. COST

The school will cost $300. If signed off by an instructor at the end of the school, this also includes a lapping or time attack license. In addition, if you are not a member of an ARMS club an additional $30 is required to purchase a membership.

3. WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING

A safe street vehicle. If your vehicle can pass MVI it should be OK for the on-track sessions. Vehicles will be inspected for suitability (Brakes, Tires, etc) prior to the session. It is highly recommended that you flush/bleed brake fluid before the event and do not use pads at less than 50% thickness. Unsafe or cars not properly prepared will not be permitted on the track.

Convertible vehicles are NOT permitted without adequate rollover protection, factory rollover protection is not enough so please check with the organizers. Please contact the organizers with questions regarding vehicle suitability. Students will be asked to complete a self-inspection checklist provided prior to the course.

A Snell 2010M or newer 'M' rated helmet is acceptable, provided the car is not equipped with a roll cage or racing slicks. Cars with cages and/or slicks will require a Snell 2010 or newer 'SA' rated helmet. ‘DOT’ helmets are not approved. If you have an SFI or FIA rated helmet it may qualify, please ask. (This is the last year for 2010 Snell helmets, if purchasing a helmet make sure it is Snell 2015 or newer to ensure you can use it for several seasons before needing replacement)

If you do not have access to a helmet please contact the organizers as loaner helmets may be arranged with advance notice. ASCC has a very limited number of loaner helmets so it is first come, first serve and they cannot be shared.

4. WHAT YOU NEED TO FILL OUT

Below are the forms you need to read, understand and fill out for this school. We will not be accepting paperwork in person, so you will need to scan or photograph the filled out forms and send them via email.

A. SoloSport Self Tech Form must be filled out and completed

B. License Application Form (Leave instructor only section blank)

C. ARMS Annual General Waiver (electronic waiver) link will be sent out prior to event

D. Club Membership Application (If not an ARMS club member for 2023)

For ASCC you can also get a membership online here: http://www.ascc.ca/?page_id=423

For the school a fire extinguisher is not required.

Any questions please email hpds@ascc.ca(quickest response), post here or send myself a private message

Completion of this High Performance Driving School AND instructor signoff qualifies participants for an ARMS lapping and/or Time Attack license allowing you access to the many lapping and solo competition sessions at Atlantic Motorsport Park throughout the year. The cost of this license is included in your school entry.
