How many sessions planned for TA without passing? IE how many total laps.

I had not made it out to one of these in quite some time.

Excellent turnout, and an excellent day for it!

I do have a question though: There were a number of well sorted cars in the paddock that had full cages in them. What is the hold back from going racing? (Technical specs of tubing aside). It seems odd to go full cage and seats, but not be out there wheel to wheel.

I am looking to start a decent discussion on it.

Does this warrant a new thread Brian or Joel?

Cheers!

-I

Great question Ian!

In my opinion, Time Attack is a lot easier on a car than wheel to wheel. After having raced a couple of seasons wheel to wheel, I find that we are constantly wrenching just to keep the car running, but in TA we can actually focus on new mods instead of fixing broken sh!t after each race. Also, TA is a different game, IMO just as fun, modding the car and give it all you got for one hot lap.

Well said!

I've played with the idea of door to door, and I would like to at least get a log book started on my car IF I choose to go big boy racing...even if it's only a few a year.

It's the flat black VW Rabbit with wide wheel arches.

I've been tossing the idea around for a few years now...and even more so lately. The car seems to be a bit more sorted out now....so maybe it's time.

I use to love Time Attack. My Qualifying on Sunday is why. Absolutely hammer down for 1 lap. Tires were right at there peek. I was at 120%. Did a 1:15.6. Fastest lap i have ever done on Nittos, and I have the smaller Throttle body and smaller cams in. I was wishing I had Hoosiers on and the ITR CAMS and TB on. Not saying i would have done a 13, but The average difference between the Hoosiers and Nittos was 1.4 secs...... Ben E should have qualified on his Hoosiers sunday.

But Its a lot of fun. You have 2 laps to make it all come together. It has something racing doesnt. Not sure home to put it. I treat Qualifying like a time attack session. Get open track and go for it. Id love to put something together for Time Attack. Just come out to 1-2 events just to try and beat my old Best of 1:14.4.

When you race your on a balance of speed VS heat. 5 really hard laps might just over heat the tires/brakes. So finding that balance is key. Plus Race craft when going wheel to wheel is so much fun.

lol I wish, DelSol was the 1:14.4. I think my best time in the civic was a 1:20.4. 92 WHP doesn't really do much lol. Ive gone WOT from exit of T4 to braking into T9 on newer Toyos. Maybe next year ill try to beat my old lap time in it.
