Hi folks, once again we are having a lapping day on September 16th, hosted by ARMS. This will be the last lapping day for ARMS for the 2017 season. If you have a lapping license, Time Attack or Race license for 2017 you are automatically qualified. If you haven't renewed your for 2017, now is the time! Please contact James Partridge to do so, the more notice the better. Registration will be open at 9am, and track hot for 10am-5pm. The day will be split up into run groups, based on number of people lapping. Cost is $120. I'm planning to BBQ hamburgers and sausages at lunch again, so if you're planning to attend please let me know so that I have enough for everyone. Thanks!

Can a 15 year old without a drivers licence, with a race licence participate?

^Seeing as he has a race license, I couldn't see any reason why he wouldn't be able to. Unless ASN has some ridiculous double standard, or poorly written rule that nobody has noticed.

Edit - looking at the ASN Canada Lapping Rules, all participants must hold a valid drivers license. National rules don't discuss lapping licenses. The race and lapping rule sets don't line up.

If they did, The key would be meeting the supervision requirements of the junior licence, which I believe needs a licensed steward to observe. But it shouldn't be impossible.

Good skill testing question though for solo and race directors.

Actually, Dave has already looked into this, and forwarded me his response last night, but I just got it this morning. Unfortunately, the answer is no. To both Time Attack and lapping.

Thanks for looking into this Brain and Dave Hull.

Something does not seem right here, and maybe we should try to address it for next season.....just because an eccentric rich dude got a rule changed so his privileged son can race F1, doesn't mean our rules about this kind of thing should be so illogical.....that is, a 15 year old can race a car, but can't do lapping, which is considered a lower licensing level (I think), and less risky. There are certainly more requirement for a race licence, like a medical, medical info sheet, etc.....

Maybe it's an insurance thing that can be worked out for next year?

It's the same rules for slalom - despite someone having a race license I can't let them run without a driver's license. It's pretty clear in the ASN rulebooks, any change to that would have to come from them. I do think it is a bit bonkers.

For reference, the ASN bulletin about junior licenses: http://www.asncanada.com/wp-content/upl ... 8_2010.pdf

i won't be able to make it Saturday. Subaru gave me the wrong axle, which i found out while trying to install it today. Also the hardlines for feed and return to power steering are leaking. No parts until the end of next week. Have a great weekend folks!
