hello ladies and gentleman.

4 days before Slemon, and I still cannot figure out the regulations in their entirety ,when it comes to modifications in the classes.

what's better than asking the regulars on here! :)

i have a 2008 subaru STI: the car itself is in the BS class
with the set of R888's, and coilovers I'm running, it puts me in the BSR class.

that's where i start to loose my track.

the engine has been rebuilt, nothing has changed except for forged pistons, stock bore, stock size, oem everything, except-forged
aside from that, just race oil pickup and baffle.

cold air intake, 3" turbo back, 38mm External wastegate @ 20psi.

can anybody help me or pointing me in the right direction to class the ol' girl.

last thing i want it to be DQ'ed at the event for being wrongly classed.

thanks in advance.

James Marks

Need to move this to the autoslalom section. This is time attack lapping.
But you will be in SM from what I read. Pretty wild class. And BSR dosnt allow coil overs. It's just bstock with R comp tires. Dosnt matter due to the motor work

Here's what I come up with:

2008 STi can fit into BS, BSR, STU, ASP and SM.

R888s aren't legal for BS (13.3.A) or STU (14.3).

Coilovers aren't legal for BS or BSR (13.8.A)

So you're left with SM or ASP (we'll ignore Prepared and Modified).

I'm honestly not sure on the wastegate. Is it the same size and location as stock? If not it's not SP legal (15.10.C.4.b). All the turbo rules confuse me. I would wager a change from an internal wastegate to an external wastegate wouldn't meet the rules.

Forged pistons are legal for ASP (15.10.R).

Oil pans/pickups are ASP legal (15.10.A).

Exhaust should be ASP legal (15.10.I).

SM is unrestricted for engine mods, as long as it's a subaru block you're fine.

I say SM unless someone has a better understanding of the wastegate rule, it's not worded very well.

The wastegate was why I went with SM.
Is the car tuned as well, with the boost turned up?

Wow, thank you guys.

The external wastegate is bigger than stock(25~ mm Vs. 38mm External)
And yes, boost has been turned up to 20PSi from the stock being 14.5.

I'll go with SM for now, i'll hopefully be able to speak with Tech and they'll be able to finalize the class for me.

thanks again guys!

Tech wont be doing classing at the event. Hes just there to check cars. SM is the correct class to my knowledge.

It is the responsibility of the competitor to properly classify their car. If I have to ask the scrutineer about what class you're in at the event, it will likely result in you being disqualified. It sounds like you should be in SM. If you want me to change your class, send me a request before the event.

Come join me in SM James. I have an equally under-prepared "rally" car (plus am massively under tire'd).
