For a dentist, I would think that you need decent eyesight. I read the current regs as -10 pips for street rubber and -5 for non premium R compounds
The regs may read like that, but the CCDB car classing database actually adds pips for R-Comps!
Quote from CASC -OR Website:
"All cars requre a current car classification to be scored for the 2013 season as we have made a number of changes to the database. Most cars will not find a signficant change in the net classification from last year but how they get to the same performance index (PI) is new. You will find that all the Handling or Suspension indices are lower than last year but all cars have their base classification defined as having street tires (defined as DOT approved with treadwear ratings of 140 or more). R compound and Premium R compound tires are now positive "other" PIPs. It is no longer necessary to designate a class with the suffix "S" or "R".
If you have not changed your car from last year, your net performance index and class will not have changed unless you have one of the " Mole" cars which include various Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaros, Firebirds and Nissan GTRs which have all had a relative increase in their respective handling indices. Also cars with a very high handling or suspension index will find that the suspension convergence factors do not change above the new Handling Index of 60."
