Hello all,

At this point the March Madness should have been in full swing but due to various issues it's on hold. In either case it's time to announce the next series:
"Prancing Pony Championship"

Image

After the technology of the AWD series and the low hp of the March Madness I felt we could use something with raw Italian power.

'07 Ferrari 430 Scuderia - $302,500cr - Racing Hard

Image

The 430 Scuderia has downforce and is tradable, so if someone can not afford it, the 430 Scuderia can be "traded / gifted".

Quick Stock Specs on the stock '07 Ferrari 430 Scuderia
512hp 1350kg 479Nm MR
http://www.mygranturismo.net/car_sheet.php?id=184
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_F430#430_Scuderia

There are no tuning restrictions for this series (both cars can be fully modified), except for tires:
Ferrari 430 Scuderia - Racing Hard

Race Restrictions will be:

-No ASM
-No Skid Recovery Force
-No Active Steering
-Tire Restrictions (see above)
-Weight Restrictions (None)
-HP Restrictions (None)

ABS will be permitted
False Starts will be enabled
Driving Live will be permitted
Off Track Grip will be set to Real
Penalties will be set to None
Damage will be set to Low

The first race of the night will be a random grid. The following races will all be reverse grid based on the previous race results.

Here is the point structure for the Prancing Pony Championship:

1st 30
2nd 25
3rd 21
4th 18
5th 16
6th 15
7th 14
8th 13
9th 12
10th 11
11th 10
12th 9
13th 8
14th 7
15th 6
16th 5

Bluetooth Headsets Strongly Recommended!
I can't stress that enough! Any Bluetooth headset will work, just make sure to pair it with your PS3. Futureshop has a good selection as well.

Schedule and Tracks
(The race distances are slightly longer so we are only running 3 races per night. Each night contains at least one race in Italy)

April 3rd - 8pm
Monza (No Chicanes) - 8 Laps
Cote d'Auzr - 8 Laps
Daytona Road - 8 Laps

April 7th - 8pm
Nurburgring GP / F - 12 Laps
Laguna Seca - 12 Laps
Rome Circuit - 12 Laps

April 10th - 8pm
Fuji GT - 8 Laps
Toscana Countryside - 8 Laps
High Speed Ring - 15 Laps

April 14th - 8pm

Any questions please let me know.

But I'm sure it can be "shared" online, so those with CR to spare could buy extra cars to share with others in need.

Do you know if a car can be "shared / borrowed" by two people at once, or even if you can use your car while it's being shared? What about changing the suspension and transmission settings?

I only ask because I haven't tested any of that yet.

The only thing I know is that you cannot use the car yourself if you have it set to "share with friends". So you'd need at least a pair to help those less fortunate.

It warrants testing if the cost of purchase has some members concerned. Personally, I'm loaded. Image

How about 458 or 430 Scuderia? Both are more proper GT cars

At Steve's request I've added the 430 Scuderia to the vote.
The poll has been reset.

Paul is right, the F40 will kill you if you look at it the wrong way.

Go buy a second and have it run your 6 B-Spec drivers on your primary account 24/7 to earn you tons of $$$.

Funny...I was thinking the same thing...I've never seen a F40 or Enzo race car series...one of these cars would be the obvious choice.

Right now the F40 is leading over the 430 8 to 2, with the Enzo at 0.

I'm sure the photo below won't happen but I think we should strive for different liveries.

Image

If you've used a car color / wheel color combo in the past you should get preference.

I'm going with Matte Black / Silver

I wonder what's faster the F40 or the 430.....

I'm still in the Cayman Islands so I can't test, but if there are no major delays with my flights I'll be home and online by 8pm Friday for the March Madness.

Perhaps we should reset the vote. I'm certain that some have voted for the F40, before the 430 was available.

Comments, suggestions?

I've never driven the F40, but did just spend a crap load of money on it. From sounds of it though, it's not the best car to drive.

I have a 430 Scuderia and it is an excellent car to drive. Very well balanced. I'm going to do some practicing with them both.

Personnally the 458 is my favorite.

Jay please see above, the vote was reset on March 22nd when I added the 430.

I own a 430 but I bought a new one last night (black on black) and fully tuned it. Haven't driven it yet but I plan to try it against the F40 this evening before the March Madness race.

I happen to have two 430's so I set one to "share with friends". Everyone, feel free to take it for a spin.

***NOTE: Shared cars can not be used in online races, only in offline practice and A-Spec, B-Spec events***

Just tested both out at Laguna Seca.

The F40 (on Medium) is faster everywhere than the 430 (on Hard) except the Corkscrew. The F40 loses major time there (almost a full second) and doesn't quite make it up by the end of the lap. The 430 is 0.1 seconds faster on average.

I will say the F40 is very... lively. The 430 feels slower but more planted.

Jay we've got some time before the Prancing Pony Championship.
Once I gift out the cars to Paul and Varga for their previous wins I'll send you a 430 (if it wins the vote).

BTW I've modified the point structure for this race. With only 3 races per evening I've increased the points a little.

1st 30
2nd 25
3rd 21
4th 18
5th 16
6th 15
7th 14
8th 13
9th 12
10th 11
11th 10
12th 9
13th 8
14th 7
15th 6
16th 5

One day left and the vote is still tied.

I'm planning to announce the details of the event that will follow the Prancing Pony Championship on Sunday April 3rd. I'll announce it in the Lounge and will post/email the details out shortly after that.

So be sure to be online Sunday night for the announcement!

Since the vote was still tied at the end of the March Madness Championship we took a PS3 online vote.

The winner is the 430 Scuderia!
