![]() Hot off the back of Petit Le Mans, iRacing is gearing up for the big one. This is expected to be the last endurance race until Daytona in January 2017, so anyone and everyone who wants to try should come give us a stint. The car options are the HPD LMP2 car, the Corvette or Aston Martin GT1 cars, or the Ford GT GT2. The race will likely start at 9am EST again and run until 9:30ish am on Sunday, and in my interest of self-preservation, if we can limit people to only having to run a maximum of two stints that would be great. So who's in? Participants: Scott, Ryan, Dave, Art, Trevor Warmup: 0900-1000 1000-1200: Scott 1200-1400: Dave 1400-1600: 1600-1800: Art 1800-2000: Scott 2000-2200: Dave 2200-0000: Trevor 0000-0200: Ryan 0200-0400: Trevor 0400-0600: Ryan 0600-0800: 0800-1000: Art |

I think we should choose whichever car is easiest to drive / less likely to wreck. Personally, I think that's the HPD. It's quite stable and has a ton of down force to keep you glued to the track. Plus it has a good damage model with fast and complete repairs. The Corvette GT1 is a wicked beast that loves to snap spin under acceleration. The Aston GT1 is a little easier to handle than the Vette. The Ford GT2 isn't too bad to drive, but it's going to be a moving chicane on this high speed circuit. I'd rather be the passing vehicle and control the maneuver than be passed and have no control. |

I voted the ford just because I own it already but whatever is decided on is fine with me. |

Sorry everyone. I've been out of town on business so I wasn't able to keep on top of this, or get any practice in. For setup I certainly can't give feedback on what you have, but I will once I'm back in the country on Tuesday. |

I can run anytime between 10am and 10pm, preferably single stints, swapping drivers each fuel stop. The new wheel wears me out. lol |

Also, I like to offer an open invitation to anyone who would like to come over to my place on Saturday and run a stint or two; whether you're an iRacing member or not. I have a decent setup at home with triple monitors and a high-end wheel / pedals. You're all welcome to come over and give them a try. And if you've not driven the HPD and/or Le Mans before, you can come over for a practice session Thurs or Fri evening if you'd like. There will likely be time available to practice on Saturday as well, while other are driving their stints. |

My wonderful wife let me "book" the whole weekend off so feel free to abuse me. If I'm choosing this is what I'd pick because it lines up with our toddlers nap and bedtimes. 11:30 - 1:30 19:30 - 21:30 one more through the night if needed. I'd rather not have the pressure of the first or final stint. That's what I got. Thanks for the offer Scott, Not this time but maybe next. Might be cool to get us all in one place for one of these kinda like an old school lan party type thing. |

You're the first to pick Dave, so you get what you want! When you say 7:30-9:30, do you mean the final stint, or 1930-2130? And as always, just wanted to remind that the times are in eastern, so they would be an hour later for us. |

Just a heads up: The warmup for the 24h is an hour unlike the standard 30 mins it had been before. I have updated the timetable to reflect this, so let me know if that no longer works or is still fine. |

so 9 - 10 is the warm-up and 10 - 11:30 is the first shift? Do we have a setup yet? I'm going to run some practice tonight with the lemans.sto stock setup but i'm assuming one of you will be tinkering soon. |

David Janes wrote: so 9 - 10 is the warm-up and 10 - 11:30 is the first shift? The warmup is from 9-10, but unlike the previous races where it just made sense for the first driver to do the warmup along with their first stint, I'm skipping that reasoning this time. The first driver's stint time will start at the beginning of the race and go in two hour intervals from there. Scott McIntyre wrote: Here's a setup from my team we can try: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/548 ... ace_v1.sto Dave and I gave that setup a spin last night during FP. It's really stable and a solid set up. I personally put that one forward as our nomination for the race set up. |

Glad to hear it. Note, if you ever find the rear a bit loose under braking, a couple clicks of in-car forward brake bias helps a lot. |

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzJVl4 ... sp=sharing Trevor did some tweaks to Scott's setup to add some fuel and stability. I have also updated the schedule above. Two more gaps and we have a full schedule! |

I just finished two stints cleanly without damage. Dave is in the car now. Ryan and I decided to use his account to register us for the race as we were nervous about our pace being dangerously slow for a 4K split. So instead we were put in a 2K split. And oddly enough, the whole field is HPDs! Not a single GT car in our split. I was grid 29th in a field of 54, and was nervous about being in the middle of so many HPD cars. So during the formation lap, I peeled off into the pits and did a drive through to put me at the back of the field (without losing a lap like starting from the pits would do). This strategy seemed to work well because by the end of the first lap, I was already two positions up from our grid spot in 27th. Hahah. I handed the car over to Dave in 16th. |

After 3 stints not as successful as Scott I handed it over to Art in 25th place 3 laps down, but I did not destroy the car. Just my Safety Rating |

I'm calling it. The car has a pretty severe right pull that even 20 minutes of repairs couldn't correct. It's made the car unstable. We're 26 laps down on the lead, 3 laps down on our next competitor and the second last car running. I apologize for not getting the car through. It all went to sh!t in that last three laps of my first run. While the car was perfect after Trevor's off, my roommate's cat got in my way and I nudged the wall. From then on out, there was just so little that could be done. Thank you all for making it 20 hours. See you all in January for Daytona. |

It's not over until it's over... Ken Mackay wrote: 20 hours is still an accomplishment, and it's easy enough to make a mistake after running for an hour or 2, especially during those shifts in the wee hours of the morning. In fact it's impressive you can even organize enough of us to cover off that much time. Thanks for setting this up Ryan, and congrats to everyone involved. Hopefully I'll be around to try Daytona again. Art McEwen wrote: I saw Ryan's email and went back to bed or I would have joined again Scott McIntyre wrote: I jumped in the car this morning. Felt pretty good aside from the steering being a bit cockeyed. Was able to pretty much match my personal best. That is until I put it into a wall. About 9 minutes of repairs. But on the good side, it seems to have straightened out the steering. LOL I'll continue to run until some else come along wanting to give it a go. -Scott Art McEwen wrote: Iron man Scott! I wonder if the driver change did some sort of reset? Scott McIntyre wrote: Finished the race. We were 25th when I jumped in and ended up 24th. Set a new PB lap, but still not as fast as Trevor's 3:38. That was fun. Look forward to the next one. -Scott Scott McIntyre wrote: Not sure. It looked like Dave had gotten in the car for a lap after Ryan parked it, so maybe he binned it and the subsequent repairs corrected the issue. Here are the results. We were in the bottom split (1321 SOF) of 9 splits. http://members.iracing.com/membersite/m ... d=18018025 Next time we'll have to get the driver with the highest iRating to register so that we at least get in a multi-class split. -Scott Ken Mackay wrote: LOL, Scott "Never say die" McIntyre. Well done.

Ha ha. nice. I did get in it just to see if repairs were running and Ryan had gone afk but never pulled it out of the pits. Glad to hear someone brought it home. |

Just had a thought. To make your life easier Dave, why don't you come over and join the Regulars yahoo group? That's where most everyone does there talking, and all the major players from ARMS are over there too. https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/gplf3r/info You will have to make an account, but you can use an existing email. |
