I would really like the see Vive support in iRacing so it would be possible to keep using the tools I have, and being able to see the wheel and all associated buttons. That is currently the biggest drawback of the Oculus. The Mixed reality set up is a bit complicated and is only usable for replays; you're still just be looking at the screens while playing.

Still, this is going to be amazing as it progresses. Easily one of my biggest issues is I can't see apexes while playing iRacing, and while triple monitors are still the standard, I see a lot more potential with this.

One of the guys I play Project Cars with just got a Vive. He said it really works well for PCars. Everything else is still a bit gimmicky though. He also just bought a 1080 video card as his older card (not sure what it was) was having a hard time when there were multiple cars around him. I'm supposed to go over and give it try sometime soon.

Definitely saving for a 1080. I haven't bought a new video card since 2011 (GTX470) so I'm starting to hurt even on a single 1080p monitor.

Figure if I get the latest flagship card I should be good for another 5 years

I'm gonna go with the RX 480 single then crossfire it later. I've got a GT 640 in my setup currently and I've ran an VR benchmark and it barely made the passing mark hahaha :orglaugh: Poor 640...

I definitely thought about the 480, but I still generally prefer Nvidia due to a terrible experience with AMD/ATI video cards a number of years ago.

I hold terrible grudges on electronic products.

Don't Crossfire the cards... I'm running dual R9 270X's right now and when they work, they are awesome.... however when they don't... just forget about it... and there's often no rhyme or reason why some games work and some don't.
It's not just older games either, a lot of stuff based on the Unity game engine doesn't Crossfire at all. It will only detect as 1 video card. The other GPU doesn't get used at all (confirmed by GPU% and Temp monitor).

I'll be ditching my R9 270X's for a R9 480(X) first chance I get.

A recent blog post by Steve Myers states " Fans of the HTC Vive should know we finally got one to the developers and they are working on getting that implemented as well……"

That mixed reality stuff looks very cool.
