and the evening temperatures are dipping into the single digits. It must be time to dust of our simulated racing wheels and pedals at ARMS? Are we going to bring back the Friday night race series? It must be time to open a discussion on what car(s) and at which venues?

If you want to get going again please respond to this post so that we can measure the interest, gentlemen.
Later...

I've hardly touched iRacing all summer, which is odd for me.

That said, I think we should start a GT3 series come S4, which would be Friday, Oct 31st. Oh wait! That's Halloween! Lets make that Friday, Nov 07th then.

Hi Scott,
Ya, it's been awhile since we swapped any virtual paint, HA!
Personally, I would prefer something a little less used than the GT3's. Seems like that's about all anyone wants to run anymore. So many other proper race cars to choose from like both Lotuses, er Lotus's, er Lotusi or the new Indycar, or Radical or one off the many stock cars? Why heck, the SRF is a ton of fun and could be run multiclass with the MX5. The latest tire model is pretty sweet with those 'little' cars. Don't get me wrong, I have a close relationship with the RUF Track and I'm willing to race anything with you guys.

The Regulars are still running the GT3's and the Star Mazda on alternating weeks on Tuesday nights, sure would like to see back on the track with us.
Later...

I was think GT3 just for that reason... that's about all anyone wants to run anymore. We need participation. :)

Personally, I much prefer open wheeled cars, but will go with whatever the majority wish to run.

I guess all we can do for now is wait for the 'others' to chime in and see what they're interested in running.

Good to talk at you, Scott.
Take care...

Fridays are tough for me, I may have to find somewhere else to run this winter.

Fridays are generally bad for me as well so moving to another weeknight would be help here.

PS The Regulars are running GT3 cars and Star Mazdas alternating Tuesday nights, qualifying around 8:30 for the first heat, Q2 around 9:15

Be warned you still might have to put up with Rick and Scott.

Hello Steve and Ken,
Thanks for chiming in guys! What night would be good for yoo's? Thursday seems like an obvious choice. Anything but Tuesday would do for me (conflict with the Regulars league), as I really don't have a life, HA!

I sent a request to the regulars group, that fits my week the best. Maybe we should convince the other arms guys just to join up with that. May help our car counts as well.

We'd be glad to have ARMS drivers join the Regulars (request accepted Steve). It's free so you can jump in and give it a try, just send a request to join. We're at Montreal in the Mazdas tomorrow night, and back there again next week in the GT3 cars.

If still do an separate ARMS league, Thursdays would be best for me, though Wednesdays and Mondays would also be possible. Weekends would be really hit and miss.

Would make a lot of sense if we all ran with the Regulars. Then we'd have full fields instead of 5-6 cars per race.

The Regulars are a great fit as well, since there are people of all skills levels running. Means you'll always have someone to race with.

Up to you guys.

Haven't sen anyone from ARMS at the last 2 Regulars events. We are at WG classic boot for the next two weeks if anyone is interested.

If most would prefer to have an ARMS-only league then please speak up. Won't hurt my feelings and it'll be an excuse to race on another night.

I'll be joining in with the Regulars once I get back into sim racing... Probably starting S4.

There doesn't seem to be much interest in an ARMS league this year. Perhaps I'll send out an email to the league members in a couple weeks to gauge interest (for those who don't frequent the forums).

So.. what would be the field of choices if I wanna get back to sim racing with you guys?
Sold my PS3 to my sister last summer, so that's out of question.
I have a decent laptop with a compatible ps3 controller, willb building my sim racing setup soon enough.(I know I've said that last year..)

Core i3-3110M CPU @2.4 GHz dual-core, quadruple channel(acts like a quad-core)
8 gb ram
1.6 gb vram(video card, IVY bridge, non-configurable as it's an i3 and not an i5)
150 gb disk space

Field of choices? We're currently discussing iRacing. Not sure if Jason is organizing a GT6 league this year, but that's another option.

For iRacing, here are the system requirements:

    PC/Laptop

Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1
Intel Core 2 Duo or Athlon X2 or higher
NVidia GeForce 7800 / ATI Radeon X1800 or above graphics adapter recommended
      2 GB RAM
      6Gb free hard disk space
Microphone optional, required for voice chat

    Controller

Steering wheel, analog gamepad or joystick.

    Internet Connection Speed

DSL, Cable, Fiber, 128K or faster - Supported. Satellite is not supported.
Dialup, 36K or faster - Partial support (no voice chat)

If you do decide to join iRacing, I'll gladly accept your referral bonus. Just enter ScottMcIntyre (@) eastlink.ca under "Referred by: (email)". 8)

I honestly haven't done a session on iRacing since our last ARMS league event

If we did another ARMS league I'd participate as I enjoy spending the time with people I know, but I don't really enjoy the racing much...
If we do the Regulars series I would probably enjoy the racing more, but miss the comradery :?

I have the answer though, we just need Mr Doubleday to join... People would log on as spectators just to hear his commentary!

I vote for merging ARMS with the regulars, just makes sense. More cars is always more fun.

FWIW we've had 8-10 drivers so far this season each race. With the ARMS members already there if another 4-5 join in about half the field will be from ARMS.

I plan to do the regulars, likely irregularly though, as the schedule allows.

I enjoyed the GT5 online events that Jason Smith had organized in the past. I've tried iRacing, and I appreciated the ability to learn a track before you actually arrive there with a real race car. Since many of my ARMS friends have been enjoying iRacing, I think I'll give it a go this winter.

I have a newer PC now. I just have to figure out which cars and tracks to purchase, I guess...

All of them! 8)

On a serious note, if you plan your content purchases in advance there's significant saving to be had.

For example, use the 50% off new membership deal. Then wait for an Extra Credits promo (likely December), where you can buy $100 worth of iRacing Credits for $75. Then once you have your credits (at 25% less), use the Bulk Purchase discount for another 25% off. So in the end, you get your content for half cost.

Then there is the $10 Participation Credits you can earn every 3 months by simply running some races. And renew / extend your membership on Black Friday each year to get 50% off. Use your $40 worth of Participation Credits, plus your $5 Anniversary credit and your annual membership is only $5 out-of-pocket (or $3.75 if you use those Extra Credits you purchased).

There you go... a $100 annual membership for only $3.75 and all extra content at 50% price; if you plan ahead. ;)

When trying to decide on the cars keep in mind you only need the car you are going to drive in a multi-car/class race (used to be you had to own all the cars on the server). So you could get away with just buying the Star Mazda and one of the GT3 cars, plus the tracks on the remainder of schedule to do the Regulars events up to the Holidays. BTW we're adding a race at Road Atlanta on Dec 9. So 2 cars and Road America, Mid-Ohio, Spa, and Road Atlanta (also WG if going to show up for the race races tonight), will get you the 6 item discount. Of course you also get the bulk discount if buying more than 6 items.
