Image

The series will consist of 12 rounds, from May to July (see below) on Sunday nights.

Practice will open at 7pm Atlantic time
Qualifying will start at 9pm Atlantic time (15 minute open session)
Race will be 30 minutes, immediately after qualifying!

Same points system as we always run, and same rules apply.
(see iRacing league page for the list of detailed rules)
ARMS League page (click here)

---------
SCHEDULE
---------

1 May 11 - Pacific Grand Prix (Okayama)
2 May 18 - New England Grand Prix (Lime Rock)
3 May 25 - Californian Grand Prix (Laguna Seca)
4 Jun 01 - Appalachian Grand Prix (Summit Point)
5 Jun 08 - New York Grand Prix (Watkins Glen Cup)
6 Jun 15 - Ontario Grand Prix (Mosport)
7 Jun 22 - Japanese Grand Prix (Suzuka)
8 Jun 29 - Belgian Grand Prix (Spa)
9 Jly 06 - British Grand Prix (Brands Hatch)
10 Jly 13 - Atlantic Grand Prix (Watkins Glen Boot)
11 Jly 20 - Brazilian Grand Prix (Interlagos, aka Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace)
12 Jly 27 - Quebec Grand Prix (Montreal)

Note: The first four rounds will be on "original" tracks, to save $$ and hopefully bring some new people in!
We will also use Watkins Glen twice (who could say no to that!) and of course a Grand Prix calendar wouldn't be complete without a few F1 classics (Spa, Brands, Suzuka, Interlagos, Montreal, Mosport).

Questions? Comments? Suggestions?

Sounds great Rejean. I don't think I've tried the L79 since it got the NTMv5. Although I did run the car for a couple seasons of the Classic Teams Championship, and it was great fun. I imagine it's even better now.

Can a handicap ballast be added in the new series to help give backmarkers a chance?

Weight ballast / fuel limits can be applied to cars, but not individuals. So the answer is no.
Maybe send the faster drivers a pint of rum each race night?

Tough sell during the summer, especially when most of us spend our weekends at the track anyway. Good luck, I'll make it if I am town and haven't already turned laps that day.

Oh?

Pardon me, Rejean.
I had posted a question about dates but quickly answered it myself.
Then I wanted to remove the post but could only edit, hence the '...never mind'.

Does anyone else get a kick out of L49?
Is it the most challenging car at iRacing?
Later...

I put people in the Lotus 49 that think iRacing is some sort of game  ...Gives you new respect for Graham Hill and Jim Clark doesn't it?

I say we handicap the faster guys with Lotus 49's against the Lotus 79's as an amendment to my previous post

Sorry I wasn't able to attend, Rejean. I was entertaining my mother with food, wine and song.
Did you have a good turn out? How about a race report?

Only Rejean & I showed up. We spent the practice looping the L79. Quite a handful, especially on a low-grip track like Okayama. I accumulated 100 incidents during practice. lol

But by race time, we had got the hang of the car and ran the whole race without either of us crashing or having any major spins. In the 21 laps, Rejean only had one incident point and only two for myself. We ran the whole race within a few seconds of one another and had a good dice in final laps with me finishing 0.340 seconds behind Rejean. It was surprisingly fun for a 2-car race.

That is a disappointing turn out, Scott, but it sounds like you two made the best of it. I doubt that I would have stuck around with that low number of attendance.

I noticed that the practice session was two hours long (!) and given that I have an 0500 duty call on Monday mornings, I don't think I will ever actually race in this series but I will attempt to show up for practice.

Later...
Rick

Unfortunately, due to a lack of participants, the series will be cancelled

Unfortunate indeed. It was going to be a hard sell this time of the year. Especially when we only get a half dozen racers during winter when people have more free time.

Thanks for the effort anyway Rejean.

See the ARMS league races are still listed on iracing. You might want to cancel those so you don't get charged for the sessions.

Agree, good idea, just poor timing.
