Decent turn out Friday night. I expected numbers to be down due to the AGM, but it was not the case. In the first race, I managed my first series win after capitalizing on a mistake by Weatherbee. Then followed it up with a nearly last place finish in the second race. I was really struggling with the chicane layout in the second race. I think I only made it though cleanly once every few laps. Lots and lots of spins. I though about saving the replay and making a highlight reel of all the carnage that occurred at the chicane, but I got lazy. Here are the standings after three rounds. So far we've had 11 competitors: ![]() |

Bah! I need to get in on this. Unfortunately I have only had 1 change to take the spec ford for a spin... Yes, I chose the word "spin" specifically.... lol Hopefully I'll be out there soon! Watch out if I do...haha |

As for setups, being pretty new to the game is having a "better" setup very advantageous? I have played with tire pressures and sway settings so far in other cars but that is about it. |

With this car, there's not much you can do in the way of setup changes. Personally, I just run the iracing baseline setup. There's not much to be gained from setup changes until you've already mastered the car, IMHO. |

I think we all prefer close racing anyway... keeping with the "spec" idea as much as possible... rather than it becoming a car setup competition. It's a bucket of fun. Finally got to run this past friday |

That's good news, despite the fact that I probably won't be competitive I didn't want to have an immediate disadvantage. I sent an application. Cheers! |

I'm also liking it now that I have a pc that can keep up. Still trying to perfect the nuances of braking with the Driving Force GT pedal, so if you are behind me be ready for an early brake. Also I had noticed it was really quiet the first few races until Brian G informed me you guys are all communicating via head set. I will try to have that up and running this friday so I can apologize easier. |

You should still be able to hear us talking even if you don't have a mic. Perhaps you have chat turned off in your iracing SOUND settings. |

Oh man, I screwed up that second race for Randy and I. Three of us were coming out of the hairpin very close together and I got right up and tried bump drafting with Brian, but apparently these cars don't like that as his rear panel got all bent up lol. I moved to the right and ran into the side of Randy taking us both out. Led to a long race of messups. I will try to be better I promise haha. Whats with the disconnects? Is that the game dropping guys, or guys dropping themselves. Noticed both Paul and Brian dropped. |

Guys dropping themselves, likely out of frustration after crashing... a.k.a, Rage Quit! |

Yes thanks for putting that together. The opening lap of the first race was interesting as well, at least there were a couple passes and repasses from where I sat, but no 3 wide. Too bad we got spread out, was hoping to have another race long chase like in the first heat. |

I had a lot of fun, sorry for those I bumped. That was my first race in the spec ford, and my only practice in the car (ever) was the last 20 minutes of the practice session! I had to take off before the second race, but I will be around for only the second one this week. I'll see if I can get my mic sorted. |

I have one word to describe what will be tonight's races.... insane! The sprint race will be held on the infield road course, which is extremely short, tight, and twisty. It will be the equivalent of a road race held on an autoslalom course. I'm sure there will be many laughs to be had. Then for the sprint race we'll be running the full road course, which incorporates most of the oval as well. And I have added a secret twist, which should make things very interesting... See you all tonight! |

Does the "secret twist" involve tractionizing the entire course? Only then might I have a change of not wrecking :p I'll be around for the main event hopefully. (Working black friday in retail) |

I really need to get some more seat time in iRacing Meanwhile I did a little better in the second race under the lights (nice touch Scott!). Despite being three seconds a lap slower than the rest of the field I figured that the length of the track would work to my advantage if I kept my nose clean (after watching some of the leaders collect the fence on the exit to the Speedway during the first couple of laps) Brian was catching up to me for the entire length of the race and sure enough was on me during the last lap. So I broke off the racing line with the intention of not letting him get a tow, tucked in behind him, feinted right and then used the draft/banking to get a run on him to take 3rd per below Gotta love the draft! The little nudge just before the line was a nice touch. Missed the first race but the second was more than enough fun. Brian W and I spent most most of the first 3-4 laps trying out the draft as well. Was going great until I got sideways in T3. Fortunately we got to try it again before the end of the race. Running under the lights was a nice change, but could have used some on the infield section. |

I have a blast during these races. Ahem, let me try to explain my actions here lol. I had a good run on you Stacy, and pulled out for the inside pass. When I got out there, the car in front of us moved over to cover the inside and I thought I was going to hit him so I moved over a bit more. Got the tires on the grass and I was done for and went for the ride. Gald i didn't take anyone else out. Brian G had even more air off that berm at the end of the race. Pretty sure he did a back flip. |
