So, Scott and I were having a discussion about racetracks within an worthwhile distance of Nova Scotia that would be good to visit. Eventually, the discussion evolved to talk about tracks which also featured in iRacing and which ones we could practice on in iRacing, and then visit and lap on in the real world.

As most discussion go, we eventually narrowed the list down to a hearty collection within the Eastern part of Canada and the United States which would make a fantastic summer road-trip, and we were wondering how many people share the thought. The map is as follows:

http://tinyurl.com/b37xtpw

The list includes: Circuit Mont Tremblant, Mosport, Road America, Mid-Ohio, Watkins Glen, Lime Rock Park, Summit Point and a loop back to AMP.

Now, this is a thought we had, and of course it would be a massive investment of time and cash for anything to happen, especially if we want to stick to a resonable timeframe, track rentals would probably be required.

Barring the irritating money and logistics things, who else thinks this would be a fun idea?

Scott, feel free to add any additional thoughts!

I think it would be the ultimate road trip, One Lap of America style.

We could call it "One Lap of iRacing". ;)

I don't own a lapping car anymore but Vantage has thrown around the idea of heading to Mid-Ohio for the IT-Festival this summer. As well as Derek wants to go back to the Glenn, he was there last summer for a BMW school and wants to return with the race cars.

I know alot of people in our group of iRacers are lappers but some of us race which means the money has to go to one place or the other but not both. I think if the logistics could be worked out you have a great idea here and I wish you luck with making this happen.

P.S. You forgot about New Hampshire!

Maybe we could add New Hampshire, and were this ever to be a reality could time it to make a pitstop of Loring AFB for their autoslalom weekend.

The possibilities are endless!

This is more of a fantasy road trip than anything. The logistics & cost of renting each of these tracks within, say a 2-week window, would be astronomical. We'd need a party of 20+ drivers with deep pockets to even consider it.

But it's fun to talk about it. :)

I just updated the map image above to reflect the latest suggestions. It would be a 6,500km round trip. 8)

Looks like fun. As cool as Road America is, I would replace it with VIR in a heartbeat. It fits more into your travel plan and is a more fun circuit to visit/drive. Unless of course you were going to Wisconsin for bratwurst and beer.
