By some stroke of luck, we (Eastern Canada) made the final qualifying split and have moved on to the Tournament which occurs tomorrow!

Here's how it works:

    • Drivers are placed into a tournament by iRating Divisions (one of three)
    • Three oval and three road races (open sets)
    • Only members of the 21 qualified clubs may participate (that's us!)
    • Races within each division are snake split by qualifying time.
    • Maximum of 30 drivers per split
    • Must run Club Logo as primary sponsor to earn points.
    • Ten highest scoring drivers from each club count toward the club total.
    • Top Four Clubs advance to the World Cup Finals.

I'm gonna try my hand with the HPD ARX 01c @ Road America. Anyone else representing?

Scott, I think I ran into this problem last time for qualifying and that was I couldn't figure out how to join. Is it because it is run like a tournament and you have to join through that way and not the usual iRacing "race now" way?

Correct. This year's World Cup is organized & run by members (sanctioned by iRacing) therefore the races etc. are found in the HOSTED section of the member site. The "World Cup" sessions you see within RACE NOW are practice sessions only.

I know, it's confusing. :insane:

Brian and I ran the 1pm race. We got slotted in the same division and same split.

I spun in Thunder Valley on lap 1 and subsequently got slammed by two cars. Caught a tow to the pits and the crew gave me the dreaded "Too much damage, We're done." message.

Brian did much better, finishing in 10th of 26, having moved up five positions from his grid spot. And only 3 inc over the 45 minute race. Nicely done!

Next (and last) race is at 7pm this evening, so I'm gonna give it another go.

The 3 inc were caused by the nut behind the wheel, they were all just wheels dropping off the track caused by not hitting apex's. Overall it was good fun. I ran the oval race later this afternoon to try and get Eastern Canada as many points as I could, that race was ok but not great. I was running in the top 10 when a wreak happened in front, I got slowed down in time but someone behind me spun into one of the wreaked cars while I was weaving through the carnidge and they collected me along the way. I started 16th out of 30 and ended up finishing 13th in a 100 lap race.

Good luck Scott and Ryan in the later race, let's get Eastern Canada as many points as we can!

Much better this time. Finished 7th of 22. Set a personal best lap time during the race. In all fairness though, a massive wreck on the grid took out 8 drivers. I managed to weave my way through it. One guy did hit me, but it was a 0x contact and I took no damage. I guess my bad luck (from the previous race) turned to good luck for this one. ;)

Ryan did very well too! He finished 6th of 26 in his race.

Hopefully we got a few points for the club. Eastern Canada was dead last when I looked this afternoon.

I had been running in 5th earlier, and the guy who I was ahead of ended up finish fourth, so I probably would of had a few extra points. However I had a slow spin on the last corner and bumped the wall which bent my left rear diffuser and my rear wing. It was almost pit time so I went in the next lap, and apparently rear wings are an easy fix on LMP2 cars!

That dropped me to 10th, but the field did a good job of thinning itself out and I was able to keep some pace so overall it was pretty good. Few mistakes so that is a big bonus. Being in the 'loser' split helped a lot too because people were knocking themselves and each other out left, right and center.

It was a good time, most definitely. I hope we make the cut.

Unfortunately not. Eastern Canada placed 12th in the tournament. :(

On the bright side though, four ARMS members made the top 10 of each racing category, out of the 1000+ EC Club members. 8)

Our small group represented well.

I guess it did pay off doing the oval race as well, both Shawn and I placed in the top 10!

I only managed to enter one race of each and in both races I got taken out early...I was looking forward to the road race, I've never really tried the HPD much
