| Post subject: | ARMS iRacing League INTEREST Poll |
![]() This thread is to gauge interest in an ARMS Sim Racing League using the iRacing service. If you vote "yes" in the poll, please post below stating your car / day-of-week preferences. I would suggest that Monday, Tuesday & Sunday evenings are off the table as they're already taken by other sim racing series frequented by ARMS members. Submit your vote! Post your preferences! |

I don't have a preference for day of the week as I do not race in any other sim and have no plans to buy anything else besides computer upgrades. For cars, I like the DP, F1 (that would be challenging but fun), Indy. I think we should be doing a few oval and road courses, personally I find each of them have their own challenges and compliment each other to develop your skill set. |

I am down with a road/oval series preferably, makes it more interesting. I am not that interested GT5 much anymore, just too many network problems, its fun to mess around, but iracing is just so much more realistic, which I understand some people dont' really like. |

Fridays and Saturdays usually end up being my days of choice. Star Mazda is always an awesome car to drive, the Williams would be fun, and if we could get more people on board, might be fun to run with a closed wheel car on occasion. Or the Lotus 49 |

The Lotus 49 is going to be crazy, if any of you ever played GP Legends you will know... I was a big Legends guy, its going to be fun. |

I would be more interested if/when I get a machine that can run it properly. |

Here are my thoughts...
• Personally, I'm not a big fan of ovals. I don't have much oval content nor had plans of purchasing any. That said, I could tolerate the occasional oval race using base content, if it pleased the majority. • Keeping in mind the above, there are only two road cars in the service that also run ovals. That is the Star Mazda and IndyCar. To me, the Star Mazda is much easier to learn / drive, and would better promote close racing. • On the flip side, if we want to attract new-to-iracing members to our league, it might be better to stick with base content cars. The MX-5 is a good candidate because we have a real-life Spec Miata series to emulate (even though I'm quite tired of driving that car in iRacing). • While the Lotus 49 is highly anticipated within the service, it's an unknown quantity at this point and could prove to be too difficult to drive for those less experienced. Thoughts? Opinions? |

I may be able to make a few races but doubt could do every week. Weekends are usually tough, Thursdays or Fridays would work better. BTW the Regulars will be starting new season October 30 with races run on Tuesdays between 8:30 and 10:00. Will run the Star Mazda one week and we're still voting between the Radicals and a mix of MX5/Solstice/TDI for the second series (though it's looking like it will be the Radicals). Once it's settled I'll start another thread with the details. If the Regulars don't use the slower cars I wouldn't mind running them in another league. PS Should warn you that you will also have to put up with Scott at Regulars events. |

What's that supposed to mean? Yes, I'll definitely be running in the Regulars league, and encourage others to join as well! Had a lot of fun this past season. The fun thing about an ARMS league would be that we'll all be racing against people we've met and raced against in real life. Well, for the most part. |

Ok, it looks like we have 9 people interested so that should be enough to get started. The time slot which seems to work for most people is Friday evening. Now all we need is to select a car / series to run. I will start a new thread / poll for everyone to vote. Poll: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=11770 Once a car / series is selected, I suggest we simply follow the iracing official series for track selection. That way our league can act as practice for the official series and there will be plenty of up-to-date setups available in the iRacing forums. I will create a league on iRacing and send out invitations sometime later this week. Lets aim for Friday, Nov 02 as our first event! |

Ok, I created the ARMS league within iRacing over the weekend. I sent out 20+ invitations to people I know are ARMS members and/or local motorsport enthusiasts. Some are expired accounts, so if/when you renew, your invitation will be there waiting for you. If you did not receive an invitation, you can apply to the league yourself. Here's the link: http://members.iracing.com/membersite/m ... league=410 ![]() I also entered this Friday's races into the schedule. Once I'm confident I set everything up correctly, I'll enter the whole season (12 weeks). AFAIK, once you submit a race, you cannot go in and change any of its setting. |

Scott, you can edit a league session you've created right up until it starts. In the league event session list mouse over the blue box in the right column for the event. The pop up box should give you the option to edit or cancel the session. PS The web page looks good. |
