....it's a beautiful day at the track...weather is sunny and warm and only a few clouds in the sky...a few people have showed up for testing and a few others just to take in the sights and sounds.

It looks to be a great start to a great day of racing...well if you don't count the fact that I blew up an engine in practise and that I may have gone off the track a few times causing the mechanics a bit of grief...now if I can just get the local girls to apply my sun tanning lotion... 8O

I had a flock of birds fly over my car during practice at Laguna Seca last week.

No droppings on the windshield though

I tried Summit Point Raceway for the first time last night, I like it!

FYI, the World Record lap times at Summit Point are 1:23.182 (Roadster) and 1:23.202 (Cup).

Looking at our individual stats, Brian W's personal best is 1:23.868 and mine is 1:25.740. No one else appears to have run any "official" laps at Summit Point in the Miatas.

It's a fun track. I've put a lot of laps in the Skippy there.

My time...using the clutch pedal and gated shifter (no paddles) is 1:27.08...and dropping.

Still working on car control and brake modulation...oh...and now heal'ntoe work...may have taken on more then I thought with the shifter!! 8O :?

Man this is hard work !! :P

Yeah, "official" would mean part of an iRacing series. Last week the inRacingNews Challenge was running at Summit Point with the Roadster.

If you join by 8:30pm you should be fine, Jason.

Hmmmm...sorry everyone...one minute I was sitting in my car chatting away and the next minute I got the boot and was transported to another race in progress...kinda like a real eye opener!! 8O

Once you leave the race you can't get back in...bummer.

Anyway...that was fun...if I just didn't crash that one time...cost me three plus minutes in the pits...I would have been closer to staying on the lead lap!!

Regarding what we were talking about...if your interested send me a PM.

I had my attention split between a NBSCC club meeting at my house (and trying to win some iRacing converts over ) and I didn't give my full attention to the "do you want to buy a track for the next race question".

IMHO there still is a few configurations of the default tracks left that we still can use ...but did I see Mosport on there? That one I would buy (and concentrate a larger % of my time on) as I hope to get on it for real someday and what a great way to learn it first!

Somehow I managed to start from pole and lead the first 9 laps, but I couldn't hold the pace and started losing 1 sec / lap. Weatherbee closed the gap and passed me on the front straight. We drove bumper-to-bumper for several more laps until I got sloppy and spun off the track. At that point Weatherbee pulled a 10 second lead and held it.

With about 5 laps to go, I spun again, only this time smacked a tire wall and had to limp to the pits while Nate snatched up 2nd place.

I actually remembered to save the reply this time, so I'll try posting some photos & videos later on.

Mosport was the first track I purchased, for the same reason you stated above. I'd love to run our series there.

Glad to hear the racing was good last night. Sorry I couldn't make it but it was 8:10 by the time I was ready to login and to be honest I was too tired.

Are we out of default tracks already?
I own Mosport but I'd hate to alienate those who don't own it and don't plan to buy it.
What other default tracks/configs can we run?

I loved that track last night!

I wasn't doing too bad until I went off on the last lap :x (w'ell that and brushing against a tire wall chasing Nate 3/4 of the way through the race that caused all sorts of funky handling from then on ...and probably led to my off at the end )

Was there something called the "jefferson" version of that track or something that we could do in the future? I haven't run it yet (nor any of the other short courses except Okayama) but it could be an option to buying tracks/cars for at least a little while? "edit...I see per Scott's post now that it's kinda tiny"

Not going to more tracks may also convince those still sitting on the fence to come join us? (Come on and join me at the back of the pack before I get a new wheel and ramp it up )

Yeah, nothing says we can't recycle tracks we've already run. :D

But yes, there's a number of configurations we have not tried yet.

Yeah that was lots of fun! I got tangled up at that annoying turn on lap 1, but i just stayed on the island for the rest of the race. Out of the beginner tracks, this is one of my favourites - except that one damn corner! Maybe something like the Charlotte roval would be cool to try? Big drafting battles!

I forgot that everyone gets the Spec Racer Ford and Pontiac.
We should try to set a good stable setup for the SRF and use that as the baseline for everyone's next race on any one of the tracks that we have already been to.
