Basically instead of a wireless setup, you can use these devices to turn your power plugs/outlets into a network connection.
These type of things have been around for a while, but it looks like they finally work well now!

1989 Van Diemen - Formula 2000 Continental

My father's been using one of these to bridge his basement and upstairs for a while now. Seems to work quite well if you only have limited points you need to push access to. Its about $50-60/plug.

I've got a set that I'd sell for $50 if someone wants them
For a few months I used them to stream movies from my server to my TV, but a couple weekends ago I ran Cat6 through my house so I don't need them anymore
