I got wheel and pedal set from Kevin tonight!!! My DS3 will be resting from now on when I'm playing GT5, so the controller days are getting down to the last couple now. This is my first time racing with a wheel and the force feed back really took me off guard, it's stiffer than the bus or the dump truck!! After I put in 2-3 laps though, I can now see how much of a dis-advantage I had, my problems with understeer in everything I drive are now almost gone!! With the controller, the car would almost always cut the tires hard and then I had to counter steer the entire corner, which is why I always put up a pretty good smoke screen every lap, and also why I had so much tire wear issues. I also have a new found respect for you guys catching a slide, it is a ton harder to do with the wheel. Hopefully now I won't have to deal with as many of them.

A giant thanks to Kevin. Without his generosity, I wouldn't be writing this now.

Ah sh!t.... now he's going to be faster!

Try turning the Force Feedback settings down in the GT5 settings until you get them to your liking.
I use FFB 8... max is 10 I think.

Your most welcome Jason... :)

This should add a whole new level to the game for you and the rest of the field.

I'll have to look for those settings, I went under where the wheel buttons are assigned and didn't see it. I've dropped a good 2 tenths a lap since switching to the wheel, but I've lost the ability to catch the car when it goes. I tried to go straight to racing, but I was to lost, so I re-did the license tests and upped my trophy levels to get used to it. Worked pretty good. I'll be on it most of the day today between the bus run. I'm going to have to get my seat built soon though, as I can't get into a comfortable position with the chairs and tables I have here. Just going to have to find a place in this tiny house to put it, and not move my 2 kids out of the play room!!

Ok, I found the settings, do most of you run with the power assist off or on? The feedback was at 10 with it off, and it was pretty hard to run. I'm going to mess around with it to find what I like for the next few hours anyway!

Jason...switch the force feedback off and see what you think...I find it much smoother to drive that way.

The only car I do this for is the Redbull... and you can switch the FFB off just by unplugging the power cable ;)

I'll check my settings and will let you know late tonight or tomorrow.... they may even be posted somewhere.
I think maybe in a 24hr thread, because Varga/Brian wanted to set their steering exactly like mine to practice.... let me see if I can find it.

 until I get my seat setup made, I'm going to be sticking with the controller for our races, the little table I have it setup on isn't heavy enough and at the wrong height, so i can't quite get comfortable with it yet. Plus, I've been racing with the DS3 since I got the game a year ago, and I've been running the GT series since I bought GT1 the day it came out, only ever with a controller, so I do have to rethink all my setup's and driving style, may take a few days, :orglaugh:

My Force Feedback settings for GT5 are:

Steering Type : Simulation
Power-Assisted Steering : Off
Feedback Strength : 8 (but I'm considering lowering this)

Hope this helps....

I'm starting to get a good feel for it now, I found an old desk in the shop that I brought in that works ok until I get a proper set-up made. I was having trouble and getting frustrated because I was trying to run cars that I had setup for the controller, and things just weren't working well. I'd rip off a good lap, then lose it the next couple , I just couldn't get consistent. So I started a new account and started right from scratch and put some good practice in that way. I'm much better with it now, but I've got a ways to go.

This is good for the rest of us too! You were so unpredictable in long corners, always darting from side to side

I love the fuzzy dice Varga!
Just to give it that "authentic" touch!

Was always smooth on my screen!! That may be more of a connection issue. If I had a memory stick, I'd post a few replays of my races from my screen, where quite a few of you guys dart all over the place in front of me too!

Their not bungee cords...they are "Excitement-Containment" devices!!

The CCM bag needs fluffing every now and then...but that does not make me a fluffer!! LOL
