Anyone try running the new Legends Road Series yet? Damn that car is hard to handle @ Lime Rock. Best I could do was a 1:02.6, after trying a half dozen shared setups and many, many off course excursions.

Practice was absolutely insane. Picture 30 Legends running around Lime Rock with cars going off in every corner, others flying through the air, and spun cars all over the track. I kept laughing at all the crazy sights I saw.

Looks like it's gonna be a 7 week series. Should be interesting.

Eastern Canada has qualified for the World Cup of iRacing Regional Annual Championship (RACC), so I'm gonna give that a go too. I'm just starting to get the hang of the Star Mazda @ Spa. Far from being fast though. Sounds like the RACC Runoffs are only running for the next few days (January 24 – 27) so time is limited. Not sure how it works for the RACC Finals which follow.

With the Legends at Lime Rock do they have a base setup that isn't for the oval?

Or is everyone driving around Lime Rock with an oval setup? That would certainly explain the amount of crashes!

When you look under iRacing Setups, there's a bunch available. The one most people start with is road.sto. But even that is pretty unstable. For some reason the car LOVES to snap spin to the right. At least at Lime Rock it does.

Oddly enough, a number of the setups shared by "fast" guys look more like an oval setup with mismatching camber / tire pressures. I actually got my best time running one of those weird setups. Go figure!

Scott, I think it's a 7 day series, not a 7 week series. This is considered week 13 in the iRacing season which from the chat fourm is always a mega week!

On another note, my SR took a huge hit last night trying to qualify for the Runoffs. I tired to hold nothing back and it seemed like I couldn't get a clean lap in without dropping a wheel or snap oversteer. I entered the race at 9:00pm, 20 laps of Spa, was 3rd on the grid for my split, was running 1st after corner 1 on the 1st lap, at about lap 10 I lost the lead due to a mistake on my part, running a strong 2nd until I got taken out by a lapped car, end of my night.

Oh look at that! The Week 13 Legends Road Series changes tracks every day. I had assumed it was every week as per regular series. Interesting.

I ran the 7pm RACC race last night. I started 15/26 with no qualifying time and finished 9th. Dropped a wheel a few times but other than that made no mistakes. It was intense too as I was battling for position the whole race. I was pretty happy with 9th.

Then I qualified at 8:30pm (with Brian Gay). Improved my time, but was 0.181 behind Brian.

I joined the 9pm race and started way at the back... 18/21. It was a tough split with pretty much all the racers being in Division 1 versus me in Division 3. There was only 2 other Division 3 in the field, so my goal was to just beat them.

However, on the first lap someone dived in between me and another car and subsequently plow into the side of me. I had to get a tow back to the pits and ended up 2 laps down. The car was never 100% repaired and my lap time were a good 3-4 seconds off pace. Plus I started to fade the last 5 or so laps and had a few spins. I ended up finishing 16th with a nice SR hit. :(

Is it just me or are there less series now then there were in Dec/Jan?

Yes, there are, but only for this (13th) week. I imagine the it'll be back to normal when the new season starts next Monday evening. :?:

I'm kinda disappoint the Legend series is a different track every day. I won't have time to get accustomed to each track before jumping in a race. I dare not try as I know my SR would take a big hit w/o the prerequisite seat time. :(

Yea I was tempted to try it last night, but I don't want my SR to take a hit...

Looks like I made it to the RACC Finals!

    Image

There's a race today at 4pm and another at 10pm. I'm gonna try to run both. If I do well (unlikely), then I'd move on to the World Cup and represent Eastern Canada. If Eastern Canada wins the World Cup, then each of us (in Eastern Canada) will receive a $25 of iRacing credit. Pretty cool!

Feel free to join in and watch me wreck on the first lap.

Yeah, you gotta own the car / track to spectate. Kinda sucks.

You'd know which race by clicking on the little steering wheel next to my name in your "myRacers Online" (bottom right) after I'm registered.

Anyway, here's the results:

    Image

Started 10th on the grid, worked my way up to 4th and held it most of the race with someone nipping at heels. But ultimately he was faster and got past me. Still, I'm pretty happy with 5th. I beat my personal best lap time during the race, and my average lap time was only about 3/10ths off my qualifying time. Can't complain about that!

Next one is at 10pm. If I feel awake enough, I'll give it another go.

I think I got this part wrong. If EC wins its group, then the top 9 drivers (all divisions) from EC would move on to the World Cup. I'm ranked 14th.

Not that I'd have a chance at winning anyway.

Hmmm...looks like the guy in pole position got the boot from the game after just 2 laps and the second place guy lead the rest of the race.

Scott...remember to bring a banana peel with you at 10pm and throw it out on the 3rd lap!!

Well, this one didn't end as well.

I actually managed to drop my qualifying time by about a 1/2 second, but the competition was even more tough in this time slot, so I was gridded back in 12th.

Things were going pretty good up to the 3rd lap as I had climbed my way up four spots to 8th. However on lap four, myself & 7th place entered Eau Rouge side by side (Webber-style) and it ended poorly. I got towed to the pits, had the car fixed up and rejoined the race 1 lap down. :(

    Image

So I guess that's it. Not sure how to tell if Eastern Canada moves on to the Word Cup. Maybe there will be something in inRacing News tomorrow.

Looks like we didn't make it... Pretty tough when you're grouped with reigning champion of the past two years... DE-AT-CH.

If you think of racing in the U.S. Indiana comes to mind, home of IndyCar and the Carolinas come to mind, home of NASCAR. You also think of Germany/Austria/Switzerland and England for sure when it comes to world class racing. Should be a great battle!

As always, let's keep the racing clean and practice good sportsmanship at all times! There will be an official iRacing observer in the races.

Oval Race today at 3:00 EST and Road Race Today at 6:00 EST.

Good Luck and Good Racing!

Tony

And there is no live broadcast and only 40 spectator spots. Boo! Oh well.
