Thanks Jason! As Scott mentioned in a previous post, maybe we should skip the practice and have 2 shorter races. Everyone can practice on their own and having 2 "sprint" races will be more like racing at home. Just a thought! |

The hosting forces you to have a practice session in order to give people time to join. However it has to be a min of 10-20 minutes, we can cut that down next time. We can also cut down or remove qualifying. I've set this race up as part of a tournament, meaning that the stats will be kept and applied towards future races in this "series" by iRacing. I should also clarify that your iRating and SR will not be affected by this race. |

Interesting, would prefer two races as well.. as I don't I'll be very sharp post 10 pm (I get up shortly after 5 each morning). I hate Okayama though! |

I'm in! Car #10 in the Gulf racing colours if I nobody else has taken that yet? I do have a few questions though... When you say: Quote: Password to join session next Wednesday night is "amp" (all lower case)
do you just go to the "Join a Race" section and click on "amp" there? I haven't been able to notice any tire grip changes in the practice mode. (Probably because I'm not doing enough practice laps) Does tire wear come into play in a 30 lap race? Will pit stops be needed? I see people mentioning "tows" Do I need to configure a button for that? How many people will have microphones? Can you export pictures/videos? Thanks Stacy |

Stacy Chapman wrote: I'm in! When you say: Quote: Password to join session next Wednesday night is "amp" (all lower case) do you just go to the "Join a Race" section and click on "amp" there? No, I believe you goto the "Hosted" and then "Join a race" from the main page. The session name will be "Atlantic Region Virtual Motor Sport" ... "amp" is the password Stacy Chapman wrote: I haven't been able to notice any tire grip changes in the practice mode. Tires in iRacing don't die as quickly as GT5. There is a blackbox button for tire wear % but I don't know it off hand. Stacy Chapman wrote: I see people mentioning "tows" Do I need to configure a button for that? That's your default "enter/exit car" button. Stacy Chapman wrote: How many people will have microphones? I don't know. |

Like Stacy and McIntyre said, everyone who can should join this race tomorrow night. It doesn't hurt your SR or iRating. I haven't even driven the full course yet, I'm hoping to put a few practice laps in tonight. Tomorrow should be fun! |

Tires in iRacing don't die as quickly as GT5. There is a blackbox button for tire wear % but I don't know it off hand. There is a drop off in grip throughout a race, but it's less than a 1 sec / lap. I have yet to run a series where anyone had to pit for new tires. Jason Smith wrote: Stacy Chapman wrote: I see people mentioning "tows" Do I need to configure a button for that? That's your default "enter/exit car" button. In other words, when you crash and your car is too badly damaged to drive back to the pits, bring the car to a full stop and press / hold the ESC key on your keyboard. That will initiate the towing countdown. Before the towing countdown completes, click it (green button, same as RACE button) so that your car will be repaired in the pits. Jason Smith wrote: Stacy Chapman wrote: How many people will have microphones? I have one, I'm not sure who else but I believe Varga, Brian & Jon at least have them.I have one too. I think you'll find that most everyone will. You can pick up a cheap $10 headset pretty much anywhere. Jason Smith wrote: Stacy Chapman wrote: Can you export pictures/videos? I don't know. Yes, you can, but not within the iRacing service. First you need to save the race replay, then use video capturing / editing software to convert it to a format that can be uploaded to YouTube or whatever. Here's a thread on how to do it: http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts ... 66065.page Here's a couple examples of what can be done with various camera angles via the iRacing replay and some clever video editing:

Thanks! Good to know about that green button before towing countdown ends. I'm sure during the first race there may be some kinks to work out This headset thing though... In GT5 you have your vroom-vroom-tire squealing-sounds coming through your audio speakers and you talk on the bluetooth as if you were carrying on a conversation during a phone call. With a headset wouldn't you get the talking and car sounds both coming through at the same time into one ear on the headset? Stacy |

Yes, you hear both voice chat and in-game sound through the same speakers or headset. |

I've bought some connectors for $9 to see if I can hook my racing headset up to the audio card in my computer (or I guess I could also use my helmet mic
This way I can crank it up more and not bother anybody in the family ...or they can't bother me as much Stacy |

Thanks for making me feel better about my lap times guys.. I'm looking forward to tonight more now I haven't configured voice chat yet either, plan to use headphones with a separate mic. Not as much 'need' for chat in Iracing, but I'd like to be able to say "I'm sorry" to folks if I punt them by accident! |

So can do we two qualy/ two races (or maybe one qualy and 3 short races?) I would think smaller sprint races would be more fun for all than 30 laps (that is an hour/race at 1:55's...).. an hour long race will get folks pretty spread out at our various skill levels. How about 25 min qualy, and 3 25 min races? |

I can't remember what my laps times were, I only did like 5 laps last week and that was it. Somewhere between 1:50 and 1:55 sounds about right from what I remember. Tim, I don't think when you set up your hosted race you have the option to arrange your 2 hour slot any way you like. When I looked it was sort of prescribed recipes and you didn't have a chance to have 2 shorter races. Kinds sucks but maybe there is a way around it. |

I'm not sure I can change it now that it's been booked. I'll look into it this afternoon. EDIT: We can't have 2 shorter races. As Brian said there's only certain "schedules" you can use and they all only have 1 race. Right now it's 20mins Practice, 25mins Qualifying and a 30 Lap Race. It looks like I can adjust those times, but I don't know when the cut off is for changes. |

Ughh.. Iracing is beginning to sound like Apple! If that is the way things stand, I'll be around for practice and qualy to have a bit of fun but I'll be out for the race. Doh! |
