Yes I know this series is several days after the 24hrs of Daytona, but this is to allow those members who actually travelled to the event to come back home and participate in this race. |

I'm in! Maybe I'll be able to have the wheel here by then, but I'm going to have to learn how to drive the game all over again when using a wheel. |

Due to the length of this race, if any person "drops" and manages to get back into the room, we will "red flag" the race at that time. The Red Flag procedure will be proceed to the front straight but behind the start/finish line. -The current time index will be taken. -In current order, cars will pass the start/finish line to see if any cars are 1 lap behind the leader or more. -This will be noted for the restart. -The car that dropped will be considered to be placed 1 lap behind the last place car. (Call this mechanical difficulties). -The time index taken at the beginning of the red flag will be used to calculate the remaining time of the race. -The race will be restarted, however the first lap will be used to get the cars into proper order. First place car will lead as a "pace car" for 1 lap. No cars may change positions until after crossing the start/finish line for the formation lap. (This procedure is something completely new for us, and I'm open to suggestions before we put what is above in place) |

Would car adjustments be allowed while we are out of the race, or would it be full red flag with no working on the cars. |

If we were restarting the race, then we would have to allow car adjustments (because we can't prevent them). So transmission, suspension, ballast, engine %, downforce, etc would all be permitted to be changed once everyone has exited the track for the red flag. Obviously you would not be allowed to change to another car, or exit and change oil. |

I don't know why they don't have this track with changing weather conditions and time. I was really hoping for a true endurance style race with weather and time change. Time change at the minimum!! If everything goes smoothly with this 2 hr endurance, I'd be up for doing others for sure. I'd love to do Circuit de la Sarthe, with time and weather change. Maybe even do a lower powered but shorter race in the 450-500pp range at the ring or something too!! First things first though, have to pick a car for this one!! I'm currently leaning towards the Mazda Furai, but I'd also love to take a lettered up car to make for some more realistic style photo's of the event. |

This could be a lot of fun, maybe it's time to change the snowmobile engine oil in my Chaparral 2J |

Regarding the Chaparral 2J, I know that the last update had specific changes to this car, I thought it would be to adjust the PP values correctly, but I guess it wasn't. The Chaparral 2J can turn 5 to 7 seconds a lap faster than most other 650pp cars and make the tires last twice as the next best car. So currently it's allowed but I'm thinking unless we want a field of Chaparral 2J's we should ban the fan car(s). Thoughts? PS-No the Redbull cars won't go down to 650pp and neither will a FGT (not that it's a fan car). |

I was planning on running that car, I think if there are more than one 2Js we should allow it to run. Does anyone else planning on driving that car? |

Below seems to sum up most people's thoughts on GT Planet... nasanu wrote: This car is a menace online. If it is driven by someone with only enough ability to keep it on the road then the only way to win is to drive another 2J. The PP system does not seem to take into account its lack of drag. It gets free downforce. Fast in the corners and blows by you in the straights. I had some idiot just the other day gloating about beating me in it. He went wide in almost every corner, he really sucked but he still won easily against my countach at 550PP. Next race in was the same result at 650PP against my stealth GTR. Crashing against walls but still faster. I think the lack of drag and the free downforce is what's the error in the PP here. I thought this was addressed/fixed in the latest update but it doesn't appear so. I've tried 6 other cars and I can lap them all between 1:38 and 1:42 consistently. A sloppy lap in the 2J is in the 1:35s, and like you said yourself you're getting tons of life out of the tires. If the 2J is allowed anyone wanting to win the race will need to be driving one. The purpose of the such wide selection of cars was to allow everyone to pick their favorite and have a chance with it. Just my 2 cents... |

Seeing as how previous used cars were banned due to lack of availability, I'm thinking this one should be too, seeing as how it is clearly a great step above the rest of the field. Either that or have a stiff pp or weight penalty to even out the cars. The other night I was able to run 1:38's in pretty much every 650 car I took out, nothing I did in anything got me within a sniff of a 1:35. |

| Post subject: | Re: GT5 - 2hrs of Daytona - Sunday Feb 5th |
Banning due to availability opens up a new can of worms, because there are some people here that have all the Stealth and Chrome cars.... which are IMPOSSIBLE to get. Everyone can "technically" get the 2J, just cycle the UCD enough times until it pops up. Unless you bought the "Special Edition" Stealth & Chrome cars are IMPOSSIBLE. Maybe just a gentleman's agreement that no one will use the 2J? |

I didn't mean banning them due to unavailability, I was just trying to reference that being done in previous series. I would be ok with them being used with a pp or weight penalty, but seeing as how that would be up to the driver to disclose, it would not be enforceable. Not that I don't trust people, but we are racers, and I don't trust people

i'm going to do some testing tonight with tones of different cars and see what i like to drive the best for 2 hrs. im leaning against the zr1 rm or something of a more exotic variety. We'll see, And like steve said there is no Porsche GT3 cup in the came or a Ford Riley i wont be able to get the actual winning car. A 458 and a camaro were in the top 5 so mabye ill try those too. |

Ok so I don't follow sports (other than F1) and I guess there's this "Superbowl" thing going on Sunday. Is anyone watching that instead of doing the Daytona race? Just wondering how many people we're going to lose to some men in tights fighting over something that looks like Stewie Griffin's head. |

I'm lvl 21 and I have 1 million credits. What race car can I get between now and Sunday to have some fun at Daytona? I've only done the license tests the special challenges and the beginner a spec races. |

Rob, do some of the Seasonal events and/or Time Trials, you could double or triple your money in an hour or two. As for what car you should get.... I don't know, hell I don't even know what I'm going to drive. I'm still undecided as well, I think I have it narrowed down to 3. At 1 million credits you could easily buy a Corvette and RM it. Either Corvette at 650pp would be a respectable choice. There's so many choices with this one, it's really what suits your driving style and race strategy best. |

I may be leaning towards a skyline at or near the 650 limit, until I get more experience, the 4wd may not be a bad choice for me, but I was down to the BMW McLaren F1 GTR, Mazda Furai, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 RM, or the Camaro LM Race Car. |

I have it narrowed down to the BMW McLaren F1 GTR, Bentley Speed 8 and one mystery car. The Mazda Furai maybe worth looking at.... I tried a Zonda but it roasted the rear tires too quickly. |

i am leaning towards a skyline at this point, mainly because they are easier to drive and much more forgiving. But whats the fun in that?. I have tested the Gilet Vertigo race car and it is a MONSTER weighs like 700 kg and has 650+ hp at 650 pp it is much faster on the banking but you have to baby it through the infield because it understeers like crazy. Have tested the ZR1 corvette also and it is in the running. Will be doing more testing tonite in my lounge likely. |

Hrm.... how was the Gilet Vertigo on tires? How was it's laptime compared? BTW, which Skylines are you guys looking at? There's only about 200 in the game |
