Please note the following: -NASCARs are 500,000cr each - Doing a few Seasonal Events should give you enough money to purchase a NASCAR. In the event that you can not purchase a NASCAR one will be "gifted" to you. -This is a FIXED SETUP series. Once you purchase your NASCAR DO NOT MODIFY IT! Any modifications will prevent you from joining our online races. -We have decided to allow TRACTION CONTROL and ABS even though NASCARs do not have these systems. If the cars still prove too much to handle we may allow ASM and other driving aids, but we'd prefer not to. -Damage will be set to HEAVY for this series. Any damage taken will require a pit stop to repair. -One NASCAR # per person (so we don't have duplicates). In the event we have more than 11 people sign up for this series we will address the issue at that time. |

Special Notes on the Points System for this series: We will be using the NASCAR style points system for this series. If we have a full grid the winner will receive at least 20pts (16 for Position + 1 for Leading a Lap + 3 Bonus) However if we only have 5 cars the winner will only receive at least 9pts (5 for Position + 1 for Leading a Lap + 3 Bonus) I say "at least" because the winner may lead more than the last lap, thus increasing his points. The number of cars will be calculated based on the number that started the race. |

If any person "drops" and manages to get back into the room, we will "Red Flag" the race. (Do they have Red Flags in NASCAR or is it just Full Course Caution / Yellow?) The Red Flag procedure is as follows: -When the person rejoins the room the current time index & lap # will be taken. -No passing is to occur and all cars are to proceed to the front straight but behind the start/finish line. -In current order, cars will pass the start/finish line to see if any cars are 1 lap behind the leader or more. -Car order and laps down will be noted for the restart. -The car that dropped will be placed behind the last place car. (Call this mechanical difficulties). -The time index or lap count taken will be used to calculate the remaining time/laps of the race. -Laps maybe added to the remain laps to allow for the lead cars to "relap" the lapped cars. -The race will be restarted, however the first lap(s) will be used to get the cars into proper order and laps down if needed. -Once any lapped cars have been "relapped" the first place car will lead as a "pace car" for 1 lap. No cars may change positions until after crossing the start/finish line for the formation lap. We used almost this exact procedure a few nights ago when someone dropped and it worked very well! |

They have both full course yellow and red, and blue with yellow stripe (faster car / leader approaching, move over), black, (penalty, leave track) Black with red (mechanical issue, leave track) white, (final lap) and of course green and checkered....just so you know! The flags are one area that I wish was included in GT5. It would make me much more comfortable with full damage and when you get turned and such. |

Kevin just wants that car for 4 reasons: A) "Hello. My name is Inigo Juan Pablo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!" B) 42 is "The Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything" C) He likes being a bright red giant "Target" (Bullseye)! D) He's hoping Juan's F1 experience will "channel" into him! ...... honestly that car was my 2nd choice for all the reasons listed above! |

You do realise that all the cars are purpose built and not "Factory" cars of any kind ??? I chose Juan exactly because he was an F1 driver and I would have taken any car that an Ex-WRC had driven if there was such a beast!!! Hmmm...and I am unaware if Juan has "6 fingers on his right hand".... |

I do know all about Nascar, and that it has gone to sh!t since the "Stock" became name only. But they DO all run the engines from the name on the front. Juan may be a former F1 driver, but he's also one of the dirtiest on the track, hehe, really takes advantage of having the wheels covered!! |

I'll take the 48. When we do the superspeedways I'm getting a brick to put on the gas pedal and taking a nap though. |

| Post subject: | Re: GT5 - NASCAR Chase for the ARMS Cup |
A few notes from yesterdays test/practice session. -The 2011 Jimmy Stewart car says 631pp in the new car dealership but it exactly the same stats (weight, hp, trq, pp, etc) as all the other cars once purchased. -Even with the slipstream (draft) on "weak" it makes a HUGE difference on the superspeedways. Team work and cooperation amongst competitors will be critical, especially if two or more are not in the lead pack. A stray car has no hope of catching the leaders (if they don't crash). -At Daytona Racing Hard tires will not last 15 laps and when one tire goes and you spin you risk not only damage to your car but damage to other cars, so please pit and change your tires before they let go. -If you crash, stay where you are until the field passes. Make sure you are not going to rejoin, or back into someone's path. Don't try to move out of the way, just try to stay still until the field has passed. A verbal warning to other drivers that you are about to or have crashed and where would be helpful. -If you are damaged and/or your tires are gone, please drop below the left yellow line and proceed to the pits. A verbal advisory to other drivers would be of benefit as well. Final bit of info our NASCAR series starts Thursday March 22nd at 9pm.... rain or shine! (We've decided to extend the Modern American Car series for a few more nights) |

*Tony* Stewart, not Jimmy, hehe. But yeah, there is no noticeable difference between me in Tony Stewart's and me in Dale Jr's, so i wouldn't worry about that point. Plus, it won't take long with the length of the races that we are doing to increase that number anyway as the engines break in. |

They're all stock cars right, they should be exactly the same... I'm definitely up for more modern American muscle first though, the cars are pretty fun to drive. |

One of my Ai drivers did a bunch of laps at Daytona today to break in my car. In the extreme section there is the Nascar series. |

Anyone watch the 500 last night? Juan Pablo Montoya lost control coming out of the pits under caution and hit a jet dryer truck causing it to explode causing damage to the track, and destroying the car and the truck. Thankfully no-one was hurt. |
