I was in the pile up in T1!

I was so happy when I saw Trevor come back from dropping. My tires were done, and I was barely hanging onto the lead lap. That was the bump I needed to make up for the early crash, but I still wasn't fast enough to keep up with you guys at the front. I was doing 44's and 45's the whole race. Pretty realistic lap times, the Rolex GT cars were doing 48-50's at the 24.

Good fun!

The pile up at the start, gave me a nice advantage right at the start, about 10 seconds, and I built it up to like 14 or so, so i could manage my tires a little. But then came the red flag, it brought me pack into the pack. I had to fight to stay in front, and then came a crash at the third lap after the restart I think, the car was impossible to handle, I had to use the E-brake to turn right. So I found myself 57 seconds behind the leader when I came out of the pit. I managed to catch up with Alex and Jason. I had the lead by the end of the race, but going all out like that was pretty hard on my tires so I had to pit, so I was going to pit at the 49th lap, I had like a 17 seconds advantage so i was planning to just change tires and comme back and fight them for the lead. But on the chicanes just before the straight leading to the pit I touched the grass and crashed, So I entered the pit pretty mush the same time as they were overtaking me xD Conclusion, it was a pretty fun race, even though I spent half the race trying to catch up those in front.

And yeah, It's true that having to fight with the people who had some lap behind kinda kept me on my toes, I was hoping there would be a blue flag or something lol :P

cheechoo,
You've got to get a mic hooked up. Communication when overtaking backmarkers can help immensely in avoiding accidents.

On the mic note, Brian P. is now good to go.... so we can expect his race ramblings on Sunday night. :)

Yeah, I know, I tried some turtle beach the other day, but somehow my tv audio output doesn't work with them (found that out with some research), so I was hoping to get sony's bluetooth for christmas, but didn't, and It's kinda expensive, even on sales the lowest I've seen them drop is around 70 bucks which is still alot for my student wallet, and I don't wanna buy the little bluetooth ones. But yeah, eventually I'll get a headset.

Did some practice on Nürburgring GP/F tonight

Varga was bloody quick, with a best lap of 1:53.433
I was nearly a second off his time with a 1:54.380

Most of my laps were mid 1:55s
Varga is playing in the mid 1:54s.... I have some work to do!

How is everyone else fairing?

PS-Both our times were set with the success ballast onboard.

I did my homework today, cause the time you posted there got me worried considering the times I was running at pratice yesterday. I tweaked the cartoday with a totally different setting than what I was I'm usually using, and turned out pretty good, first timed lap with the succes ballast on, full fuel load turned out to be a low 1:54. It is now running 1:54's consistantly with my lowest to be a 1:53.653. And, the I now encounter way less wheel spin than I usally do, which I guess is a plus on my tire wear. 8)

To anybody reading this and thinking they won't have a chance and may stay away, don't listen to what these freaks are saying, there will be plenty of good racing in the 55's and 56's.

Steve's right, the 1:54s I ran killed my tires pretty quickly and I wouldn't be able to keep that pace up for long.
I'd expect my race lap times to be in the 1:55s or high 1:54s with drafting.

I did some laps and I did 1:56.7 with the 80kg mass penalty and 1:55.2 without it, that is a 1.5s difference per lap which is a lot. I have no idea how Varga can do 1:53s.

I was finally able to get down to a low 54, but it was hard to maintain that pace and still have tires left. I think the key to my improved lap times was the consumption of multiple beers before I drove.

I wonder what would happen to your lap times if you nailed the old lady and then did a couple rails off her backside before the race...James Hunt style :orglaugh:

For some reason i couldn't join in, While in watch race mode, there was like 4 people who was parked at the same spot, and each time I tried it was the same 4 person, but I could see the others racing....tried everything with my connection, nothing worked out, I tried my connecting on something else, and everything was good, tested my connection, had 21 Mb/s download rate and 7 Mb/s upload rate. :/

Well that sucked! LOL

Qualified well, front row.
Lead for most of the race, Steve was keeping me honest for the first dozen laps, never more than 1 second behind.
Steve pitted on lap 12, and I pitted on lap 15. My goal was for a 1 stop (I think Varga was trying the same).
I was in 2nd when the Red Flag was called on lap 20. Steve was about 6 seconds ahead of me, and I was catching him at about 1-2 seconds per lap.

The restart went great, and I overtook Steve. I was able to pull slightly ahead of Steve, that is until he unleashed Varga.
Varga and I battled for a few laps, trading places, until he was able to make it stick on lap 7 of the restart.
We both dropped a wheel while going through the Schumacher-S however I ran a tad wide and dropped 2 tires into the dirt. I tried to ride it out, keeping the wheels straight, but the car hooked and dove straight for the wall. BAMN! Engine dead, far side of the track, shortly after a restart (so everyone is bunched together) and only 4 laps left. I pulled to the side while the traffic passed me and then limped back to the pits. After fresh tires I was hell bent for leather, but it was too late. I think I was 3-4 seconds behind Albongo by the time I crossed the finish line, but I was about 55 seconds behind Varga. :(

I should say that battling with Steve & Varga was excellent, it was the highlight of my night.
Both were extremely quick and clean to race against!

On the slightly bright side, Alek, Cheechoo and I both get to drop 20kg from our success ballast.

The new totals for the next race should be:

vincentq4 100kg
cheechoo 60kg
AMoncilo 60kg
stevedp 40kg
TMac_71 20kg
MerlinRPM 20kg

Once again the red flag gods were on my side in this race. I was wanting to do a one stop but had used up the best of my front tires and was losing too much ground so I decided to change to a two stopper and hope for the best. Got my wish near the end of my middle stint with the red flag. Got my fresh rubber with out losing position 8)

I knew I was in for trouble with Varga and had a moment in the dirt that let him slip by, after that I followed those two, gaining little by little as they battled until Jason crashed. After that I went into conserve mode and protected my position. Big picture stuff lol. Fun race, I know some guys don't like that track, but I really enjoy it. There are some real key areas where you need to keep the speed up and walk the line to get a good lap, and there are also areas that are flat out and fast. It is satisfying when you can get the nice run and make a late out brake at the end of the back. Also the front straight braking area is a nice one to get right.

Yea I gotta say the Nürburgring GP/F is one of my favorite tracks in GT5, it has the right mix of technical and flat out speed.

Yeah, that Zonda race got me laughing all race long, it was pretty fun,
as for the real race, i could only join in after 20 laps causing a red flag, I've started last with a lap behind the leaders. So I was pretty much only racing for honor xD I fixed myself the goal to unlap myself and I could not achieve that, Vargha still had like 3/4 of the long straight in ahead of me. I'm pretty sure, after looking at the times, I would've been in the three way fight in the front which would've became a four way battle.

Anyways, I just realized I'll be missing Leguna seca since I'll be spending a couple of days in Québec for the march break. Sucks that it's the one I'm missing because it is one of my favorite track, just after monaco lol.

The Zonda R race was the most fun I have had in a while.......very good fun group of guys!

I also enjoyed points race very much and not because I won.....it was challenging in the creature comforts of the Quality Inn seat!!

I was able to save the replay of the initial race before the red flag and also the second race following the red flag procedure. The data was there to be saved however on the save replay page there were no finishers listed....just try and save as usual...it worked in my case anyway.

The track was wide enough to race closely and take multiple lines to have some very close racing.....I like the Nurburg GP/F more than the Fuji...there are more low to medium speed wide sections that made it fun than Fuji......I missed the daytona race....too bad.....

I will be try to be there for Wednesday practice only if I am not working late.......will keep you posted.

PS my spectator roomie at the qaulity Inn was impressed with how much fun the online racing can be.....he was right into it just like watching other real series....only more fun...he said....

You take 20kg off per race in which you place 4th or lower, but you must race.
Missing races does not allow you to take weight off.

Hi Jason,

So far in this championship I have placed 2nd in the first race, missed Daytona, and placed first at the ring/F.

I get 60 plus 40 kg as my penalty. I think I was over penalized at the ring/F race....

could this mean that my penalty is not 120 kg but 100kg? and also since I was over penalized at the last race take 20kg off for that....

is 80kg acceptable?
