I checked into the cost and if I was looking at everything correctly it only cost $1.00 for 2 hours of server time to host your own event. In that 2 hours you could have a 30min practice, 20min qualifying followed by a 30min race which would be like the 20 laps of Lime Rock. It doesn't have to follow that schedule just thinking out loud.

I think Paul already mentioned something along the same line earlier about cars and tracks, we just need to decide what and when to do it.
We don't need a practice session. We can do that on our own. So I'd say do a couple qualifying / race events back-to-back in the 2 hour window, using different tracks.
As for tracks and cars, I'd suggest sticking with defaults (i.e. rookie) sets, more specifically the MX-5 Cup. That way there's no added cost, and everyone will be familiar car / tracks. Maybe mirror the current iRacing Mazda Cup (i.e. use the same track of the current week). Maybe our local Spec Miata Championship Drivers Association might like to sponsor the series as a promotional tool; and pay for some server time.

The problem with FOV set wrong is it is like looking out your windshield through a fish eye lens, It distorts distance and speed. Very hard to drive that way.
I had never noticed this until I switched to dual monitors and drove the Lotus 79. Then it became very apparent. I thought there was something wrong with my hardware or settings until you mentioned it here.
I don't really notice it in roofed cars though, likely because the skewed part of the screen is filled up by the interior.

There is a lot of info in the iracing forms. John Bodin has great post and all his info is very good. There are many hidden settings in Iracing that can help with FPS ,graphic settings, pitch, yaw. Too many things to get it to here.
Yup, I've read a lot of that stuff. I have set my DriverHeadHorizon / DriverHeadNoPitch / DriverRotateHead / etc. I find it helps a lot.
Here's a really good forum link of "Essential Reading" that everyone should look at. See the 4th post in this thread:
