Hello all,

As our AWD Arch Rival Championship is winding down, it's time to announce the next series. "March Madness Championship"
This series will be a 3 night race with the Nissan March 12SR '07

Image

Unfortunately I will be unable to host/attend the first two nights of this series. (March 17th & 20th). I need someone to volunteer to host and run those nights.
**UPDATE*** The series will start on Friday March 25th

Quick Stock Specs on the Nissan March 12SR '07:
110hp 960kg 137Nm FF
http://www.mygranturismo.net/car_sheet.php?id=692

There are no tuning restrictions for this series, except for tires (Racing Hard).
In testing a fully tuned March should be just over 200hp.

Race Restrictions will be:

-No ASM
-No Skid Recovery Force
-No Active Steering
-Tire Restrictions (Racing Hard)
-Weight Restrictions (None)
-HP Restrictions (None)

TCS & ABS will be permitted
False Starts will be enabled
Driving Live will not be permitted
Off Track Grip will be set to Real
Penalties will be set to None
Damage will be set to Low

The first race of the night will be a random grid. The following races will all be reverse grid based on the previous race results.

Here is the point structure for the March Madness Series:

1st 20
2nd 17
3rd 15
4th 14
5th 13
6th 12
7th 11
8th 10
9th 9
10th 8
11th 7
12th 6
13th 5
14th 4
15th 3
16th 2

Bluetooth Headsets Strongly Recommended!
I can't stress that enough! Any Bluetooth headset will work, just make sure to pair it with your PS3. Futureshop has a good selection as well.

Schedule and Tracks

March 25th - 8pm

Cote d'Auzr - 8 Laps
Laguna Seca - 8 Laps
Nurburgring GP / D - 8 Laps
Indy Road Course - 8 Laps

March 27th - 8pm
Clubman SSR 5 - 10 Laps
Daytona Road - 5 Laps
Suzuka Circuit - 6 Laps
Eiger NordWand Short Track - 8 Laps

March 31st - 8pm
Cape Ring Inside - 15 Laps
Fuji GT - 8 Laps
Top Gear Test Track - 10 Laps
Nürburgring Nordschleife 24hr - 2 Laps

I thought we could use a low HP as a change in pace. Also with March being the 3rd month we'd limit this to a 3 night series.

Any questions please let me know, and again I need a volunteer to run the first two evenings.

Sounds like fun. The slower cars always make the racing tighter.

I have a suggestion for the next round. Early 2000's Lemans P900 cars. Audi R8, Judd, Bentley, Pescarolo etc

The Nissan March all decked out is pretty fun. Should be a great series!

I can setup and run MerlinRPM's lounge on Thursday, however I have just been booked for sunday night and am unable to do the same for Sunday night.

Looking for a volunteer for Sunday night as Jason nor I are able to run the event.

I am also ready to receive suggestions for very creative excuses from you guys, that may allow me to attend on sunday.

Varga, Scott, Alek and I decided to do some practice... these cars are VERY close... should make for some excellent racing...

On an unrelated note I decided to do some tire testing.
I've heard that the tires in GT5 degrade at the same rate (IE a Racing Hard and a Racing Soft will only do the same # of laps).

So I decided to test this by doing donuts in a high powered car.
The Racing Softs and Mediums both ran out at exactly 1min 9secs
The Racing Hard however ran out at exactly 1min 15secs
I was able to repeat all results... so maybe there is something to the racing hard having "slightly" more life than a soft/medium tire.

Now in the test above I burned them until there was nothing left. I didn't test for the "let go" factor, which generally happens at 2/3 to 50% of tread left. We all know the higher hp cars are undriveable with anything under 1/3 of the tread left.

I propose we postpone the series for a week and hold the first race on March 24th after Jason gets back. That'll give Varga some extra time to get his machine fixed as well.

Just FYI I'm not back until the 25th.
But if you wanted to push them back to the 24th and someone host that race (or move that race to the 25th) that would put the final race on the last day of March (which would be cool).

My only concern is that I'd hate to lose the momentum and interest that our Sunday/Thursday sessions have, by putting it off for a few weeks.

For anyone thinking of buying GT5, it is on sale Sunday and Monday at Toys R Us for $30.

Now, if I just had a PS3.... Anyone here who is interested in this game, probably already has a copy, but I thought I'd share just in case.

Ok so we'll start at 8pm on the 25th.
I've updated the first post in this thread to reflect the new dates.

Reading the post just above yours it looks like it's going to be tomorrow night, but I don't have a PS3 so I don't pay a lot of attention.
(I lie, this thread is more entertaining than the race forum   )

I am enjoying this series. It was satisfying when I got the pole at Monaco, but I suspect that Paul would have snatched it if he was able to join us. Nice to see that he did (eventually) for the other races.

Hopefully we will continue to have a decent number of entrants for this series...the nicer weather is almost upon us.

Yeah this is a great series. It is super hard to recover if you have an off (or if someone punts you from behind :P ) You need to be perfectly clean everywhere to stay up front.

Jason and I had a great battle for the last couple laps at Indy, and he got me in the draft on the front straight. I was trying to drive in my rear view and put him in the wall but he snuck by

Yea about 2 laps before the end when I realized that I wasn't going to be able to lose you I made the decision that I wanted to be behind you coming out of the road section onto the oval for the final lap. Great racing!

I suspect that's how McIntyre got Paul as well... but I haven't watched the replay.

Scott pretty much got me everytime on the front straight, I screwed up gearing and was into the limiter WAY too early, I knew I was done, didn't matter if I was ahead or behind.
