I literally had the keys in my hand and was walking out the door to take a trip to the USA yesterday to go pickup packages hoping that the replacement board would be there (...as I have no way of knowing because they didn't send me any tracking info or respond to my request to have it sent to Canada) and I met the postman with it coming in the front door with it. Yay!
So I take it apart and the mother board only has two of the four (very loose) spacers to hold it off of the metal plate so it probably was shorting out causing my problem. For something at that first appears to be made out of a nice solid chunk of aluminum it is sure slapped together cheaply! So a little insulating tape and a reroute of some wires so that they don't fray we are back in business.
While I am at it I also check to see if the brake cylinder had fluid because it didn't feel that great, but Noooo you have to disassemble all the springs and fittings and add it yourself ...which is fine as I understand it could leak or something in shipping, but at least they could tell you in the instructions. Oh wait there was none. Just a dead link that you had to go digging to find the required drivers.
Ok so now it loads right up, the brake feels much better, and the 3rd party software I found on the iracing forums takes ...so I go for a spin.
It feels like a butterfly flapping it's wings, no wait ...brushing it's wings against the back of the brake pedal under lockup. You can barely feel it! I went through all this crap for this? Sorry, sorry ...must get blood pressure down
So my next step is to do some research to see if this is just my unit or if they all feel like this, then if there is no fix maybe hook it up to a relay or something that can really bang at the pedal?
BTW how do I turn the brake lockup feature off on the steering wheel? The only thing I can find trolling the forums is to set "SPO" value to "0" but it must be a Fanatec thing rather than a G27 as I can't find it. Any thoughts?
Thanks
Stacy
