Welcome to the 2014 Toyo Tires Spec Miata Championship. 2014 represents the 4th year of the Series. Each year our series keeps getting more competitive & exciting as our car count continues to grow. Again, we are looking forward to a larger race car count this year. At the time of writing we are aware of 12 cars in the region, now wouldn’t that be awesome if all competitors made it out for the first weekend!!! We are very excited as our series now has the largest class competing at AMP (for over 2 decades!)
This Series is organized and promoted by the Spec Miata Championship Drivers Association (SMCDA) aka Blu Vandaalen & Bruce McNutt. SMCDA is a non-profit society that was created especially for the operation requirements for this Series.
This Series is hosted by Atlantic Region Motorsports (ARMS) which is sanctioned by A.S.N. Canada F.I.A. The Spec Miata Championship Rules are set forth by ARMS and can be downloaded here;
http://www.armsinc.ca/race/documents/The Spec Miata Championship consists of 15 Sprint type races (5 events X 3 races per event). Points are awarded as set forth by ARMS. Event dates are as follows;
May 25, June 22, July 13, Aug 17, Sept 21. Championship prize payout as per attached “Contingency Program”. All events shall take place at Atlantic Motorsport Park, Shubenacadie, NS on dates indicated above.

http://www.armsinc.ca/race/888-2/All competitors must have a current ARMS Road Race License or approved equivalent and fill out the SMCDA Registration Form. All SM cars (and safety gear) must pass the ARMS Technical Inspection (note; new for 2014 is mandatory HANS system).
Cost; The cost to enter each event is $380 payable to ARMS at on-site track registration. SMCDA subsidises each car owner $50 for each race weekend. This subsidy shall be paid out as indicated below.
Sponsors: Attached you will see the “Mandatory” and “Contingency” decal placement as well as mandatory drivers suits crests (Spec Miata Championship, Toyo Tire & Mazda) for 2014 including payout. It is your choice of which “contingency” program(s) you wish to partake in.
ie. If you want to receive monies from Mazda and be eligible for the “Playboy MX-5 Cup Shoot-out” in California you must apply the MazdaSpeed & Mazda decal. We do not administer this so it is your responsibility to register online with Mazdaspeed as this program is between you and them.
http://www.mazdamotorsports.com . SMCDA supplies a complete decal set for your 1st set. (see decal placement sheet attached) If you require additional decals, there may be a small fee. Simply contact us.
I believe it is important to keep everyone up to date on what is planned for 2014 and beyond;
· Toyo Tires is our Primary sponsor who makes this all happen. You are entitled to 40% off retail price for mandatory Series competition tires. Please ensure you purchase your tires from Scotia Tire as they have 100 tires in stock, FREE installation, FREE balancing, FREE Rotation throughout the year. If you are not able to visit a Scotia Tire dealer, contact Blu to make arrangements for tires to be sent to you.
· Spec Miata will be running the Toyo Proxes R888 Competition Tire in 2014 & 2015. This is our spec tire and only tire for the series. Toyo Tire year-end awards are only eligible if you provide proof of purchase from Scotia Tire.
· Mazda and Mazdaspeed - There was lots of discussion about proposed alternatives including different payout schedules etc, they elected to continue with the same program as last year.
· Mills Mazda (Truro) is a mandatory Series sponsor. Mills has been with us since the start and they are keen to help the series grow and help you with parts. Upon registration with the SMCDA, you are entitled to a major price discount on OEM Mazda parts at Mills Mazda. The price for all competitors is cost plus 10%. Simply call Mills Mazda and start enjoying your discount. Mills also includes a Championship Prize payout as a credit on account. If you were a 2012 and/or 2013 competitor, please contact us for your current credit amount for Mills Mazda.
· We are working on a Mazda Day to help celebrate the 25th anniversary of the mighty Miata and launch of the 2016 Miata. This will be at AMP during the week as a private track rental, possibly August. Stay tuned !
· SWAG: First 10 people to register and return the form receive a free Jacket, Hat, toque and T-Shirt. Form is attached as “ SMCDA Registration form”
· More SWAG: We have 100 Spec Miata T-Shirts for sale and available for free giveaways.
· No way, not more Swag: Spec Miata Badges are now available for your drivers suit. Please place these above the TOYO TIRE badge already on your drivers suit.

Reminder:
ARMS Coupons – ARMS has told us we must reimburse you directly and not pay for you at the track. Meaning, you pay the full entry fee per race weekend and we cut you a cheque. Since banks like to charge for cheques and that means in excess of 50 cheques we have to write for 5 race weekends, we are going to fully reimbursement you at the year-end awards banquet. One BIG Cheque. $100 towards your first race entry fee and $50.00 subsidy per race entered could mean $350.00. That is almost one free weekend !!
