Seeing the popularity of the "Good rally cars for sale" thread, I thought I would interesting to create a "Good sports cars for sale" thread for neat street cars...

To start things off is a 1993 Acura NSX I happened across on Kijiji in Quebec for $15K ...although the word "good" is stretching things a bit here . Perhaps the word "potential" might be better as most people that own these fancy Hondas think they are worth double what this guy is asking.

Oh Bruce, I've heard you say more than once "I'm gonna own one of these someday" so now's your chance. The guy called me after I texted him for details and basically he run into a curb with the front end and bent the crossmember and lower control arm. It still drives and he has replaced the front wheel and there is a fiberglass sill plate coming for it. The car is currently regristered in his name with a clear non-rebuilt title but warning bells do go off as 1993 didn't have the 6speed (JDM swap?) and the missing interior bits include the plastic piece under the key and what he described as the clip holding the T-top in which again didn't come in 1993 (nor looks like it in the pictures) suggests a previous breakin. Oh, and the seats don't match in the picture of the car in his last shot (which was the only picture shown in the orginal ad when I contacted him)

http://quebec.kijiji.ca/c-autos-et-vehi ... Z336669850

Image
Not a picture of the actual car as Kijiji posts don't last very long, so I have substituted a Wiki photo for effect ;v)

So my first post may or may not not be the best example depending on how bad you want one of these ...but feel free to post what you may run across that others may be interested in.

Thanks
Stacy

That's a good price to get into owning an NSX, seeing that they're not usually found for that little money. But after fixing it, the price of parts could get it closer to the price of finding a 90-91 in possibly much better condition somewhere down in the US.

On the other hand some people like a project and even a nice one isn't nice enough, so maybe just as well start with a rougher one for less money since the paint, wheels, suspension, and seats are getting swapped out for something nicer anyway....

Yes I have said that more than once. And yes, one day I'll own one. That said; I wouldn't touch that car with a ten foot pole. I really wouldn't touch much coming out of Quebec.

Yes I want a NSX!!!

This looks like a pretty excellent condition E30.

http://halifax.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicle ... Z317076311

Not sure how the price compares to the market. I'm developing an unreasonable want for an E30 these days. :)

And a nice Datsun next to it!

How about this for a nice Datsun:

Image

Currently on ebay with 18 bids http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun-wagon-1971-Datsun-510-wagon-Amazing-condition-5-speed-Panasport-wheels-Restored-/150715845601?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item23175d4be1

Hmmm, my wife wants me to buy a stationwagon. She liked an '04 BMW 325xi wagon we looked at last week ...but I said gasp 8O that I need a little more reliabilty in my fleet right now and I'm leaning more towards something like a Lexus Sportcross.

Buuut... this 510 is a solidily built Japanese car too, think she'd go for it?

Does she know how to operate a choke?
no air bags or abs or O2 sensors or electronics or power windows to fail.
easy to set the points with a dime.
only need spark & fuel, and it'll run.

some one who went to look at the car says that it's in very good shape structurally.

It's in Ontario. Seller was asking $2500 back in september... maybe it's too butchered though.

$2500 is way too much for that car.

Yeah that's why I said butchered. You'd really need a free, rusted out local parts car to get all the stuff that was already "modified." Ie: welded diff.

EDIT: I thought the title of this thread was cheap sports cars for sale. Whoops! 8O

Ok, ok ...it's not exactly for sale ...and it's not exactly a car ...and it's a video, not a picture/link. But this is just too cool not to share!

I need to build one of these for my Saab :D

Anyway getting back on topic I noticed this sports car has been around awhile (Maybe he's open to offers being winter and all?):
http://pei.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-cars-1986-Porsche-944-Turbo-Coupe-W0QQAdIdZ325057493
Image

A 944 Turbo for $8400 isn't a bad price ...just make sure the main bearings are good (I saw a #2 bearing give out on someone at Pennfield, and it is a known weak point)

I got too many now... 8)

But I would think that sub-$8K for the turbo models is a pretty good price if it was a decent car. Some should jump on that Halifax Autosport one...
USD prices from a recent GRM article http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/articles/porsche-944-profile/ :

Quote:
For a Turbo, expect to pay no less that $7500 for a 1986 in decent condition. A good daily driver 1986 or 1987 Turbo should sell in the $8000 to $9000 range, and for a 1988 Turbo S or a 1989 Turbo, you’re in the $11,000 to $13,000 neighborhood. For an S2, expect to start negotiations at around $11,000 for a decent car.

BTW keep in mind that the Turbo is a completely different car from a non-turbo!

I heard through the grapevine that the Celica Alltrac on Kijiji in Northern NB is still for sale...
Image
http://fredericton.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-trucks-1992-Toyota-Celica-GT4-all-trac-Coupe-RHD-reduce-5500-W0QQAdIdZ317975739

Usually sports cars go for cheaper in the winter than in the spring and summer but with AWD maybe not in this case?

Sweet looking thing for sure! To nice to belong in the good rally cars for sale thread

It would need to be a BIG lottery win to justify paying $279K for it:

I almost drove straight through turn 1 laughing so hard at watching you at opposite lock in front of me with the Yellowbird on Sunday night playing NFS. Don't lift! Don't lift! :o

Ok, while the price of the intial NSX dog in this thread was let's say "thought provoking" ...I might have been off on the 944 Turbo price (although I still think it's an Ok price for one in really good shape)

So I am looking to redeem myself with this find:

Now keep in mind that while it's not up in that $279,000 Ruf range ...it is still not a cheap purchase at $26K obo, but don't these usually go for $50K+?

I give you a 1976 Pantera GTS with 45K on it:
http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-cars-Pantera-GTS-W0QQAdIdZ356338862

Image
...and the gratuitous wiki picture for effect for when the Kijiji ad disappears

Might be a reason that it was parked for so many years. Hopefully it's not because it's rusted out in the A post, B post, roof, chassis legs/trans mounts, bottoms of doors, rad support, hatch, rocker panels, cowl panel, fenders, any part made of metal. Brakes probably seized as it has been sitting.
351 Cleveland so should be cheaper to rebuild than most.
Did I mention that they rust.

A transaxle rebuild could run into big $$$ as well...

I've always liked the forerunner of the Pantera, the Mangusta, a little bit more...

I'll blur the line on 'car' and add this one to the mix (it's a 1992, not an '82 as the ad states)

http://newbrunswick.kijiji.ca/c-cars-ve ... Z360630109

They're classed by the SCCA for auto-X (I've raced against them before in Alberta) and there's a growing interest in non-straight line racing amongst their followers

This one's a bit more purpose built...

I've often thought about building a Typhoon clone, AWD with a Ls series motor up front instead of the turbo 4.3. I can't see me cutting up an original truck as rare as a Typhoon for a track rig, but damn do I ever want one!!! I was well on the way to building a healthy 355 powered SWB S10 a few years back, but it got sold to fund other projects. I was hoping to have it turn out something like the truck pictured. Still have the motor though...
