Wasn't the turbo the GLHS? (Goes Like Hell Some more)

I had one for a weekend once, and can verify Car & Drivers quote at the time: "It's like an axe, crude but very effective" 8)

I seem to recall that it didn't run or had some other potentially major issue.

Didn’t run (I suspected a TFI module, and I was right)

And bought on Christmas Eve day by someone who needed cash for presents ...or booze, I wasn’t sure which 8) (and yes the seller was sober when I bought it)

Also it’s a 4 cylinder body with a 5.0L swap, but surprisingly rust free underneath and around the shock towers. I haven’t even driven it yet (I don’t trust the fuel maps for the cobbled together looking supercharger setup). But a couple of blips of the throttle with that exhaust + SC whine sounds like some hound from h*%ll has gotten loose ...mind you I’m going to be experimenting around with 5 primary tubes kept separate from the other 3 to get the proper sound so that Ian won’t disavow me when he hears/sees this project

I was shocked at how small the brakes looked on that thing in the ad. I know it's light, but those look like the stock brakes that came on my truck (which are the same as the stock brakes that came on a '79 Monte Carlo...)

The car is very light. Modern cars often have huge brakes, but they’re also generally 3500+ lbs

Not sure why they call it a “mechanics special” when everything supposedly works and was again supposedly won in a charity auction? One of the pictures does look like it the way they received it from a junkyard auction or something ...so pretty much an indication that the seller just wants to get rid of it (and will take a low ball offer maybe) if they are not even going to take current photos of it?

Prob has at least a handful of the 30 odd common engine issues that would put you back 3 times the asking price.

A rather anemic example, but a good basis for a swap?

Stumbled onto this today, does anyone know anything about it? 1984 Nissan Pulsar in Dieppe. Decaled "Bastarache Auto Salvage".

With a little bit of work, that would be a solid, GT-6 car at AMP. maybe even GT-5

I believe it's one that Gerry Boudreau built. I think it was raced by his brother.

I posted it in the good rally cars thread, but I presume it wouldn't take much to make it into a good track toy wouldn't you say?
